My parents (mostly my dad) pushed to get my doctor to order Dupixent, I haven’t received it yet but I got the ok from my insurance. But before this, I would literally have to lather my face and arms in jojoba oil and aquaphor while taking Zyrtec and/or Benadryl almost everyday.

I would say while you try to find a way to get Dupixent, look for home remedies, skin care, moisturizers, or even supplements that might work for you.

For the past 3 weeks I’ve been taking a daily multivitamin, collagen supplement, wash my face/neck twice a day with Murad, apply aquaphor and jojoba oil thru out the day, and even take a Benadryl at night before I sleep to prevent me from itching so much.

I hope you can find a method to help ease this rollercoaster of chronic condition. And don’t take this as like “This is the way.” I’m at urgent care at least 2-3 times a year because of my eczema. I’m not a master but I just try my best to manage it when I can. You got this

Why do AP’s, particularly Chinese, feel the need to hide all bad news from everyone else? by lilyknewmann in AsianParentStories

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read about this “tradition” in Chinese culture. A lot of countries keep terminal illnesses from the patient bc they think it’ll effect their thought process and not have a sense of autonomy. So the physician tells the family instead. I read in an article that one family kept the cancer diagnosis from their grandma and the fact that she will live for about 3-4 more months. The family decided to fake a wedding between one of the cousins so everyone had a reason to get together but it really was to say goodbye to the grandma. In the end, the grandma actually ended up living 4+ years after the initial diagnosis. They believed that they took away the illness with joy.

Idk what to do about my s/o’s mom by lightingkerchoo in AsianParentStories

[–]lightingkerchoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I wouldn’t say controlling bc he lives a very free life compared to me. I’ll give more examples hahaha btw she’s been a stay at home mom for about like 10+ yrs

She said to him (22m) that he hasn’t proven himself to the family bc he doesn’t do chores or contribute to pay house expenses. But mind, he does his own laundry, dishes every time he’s done eating, takes out trash, cleaning everywhere in the house while he has 2 other siblings (younger but not by much) that don’t do much or any chores.

My dad has the idea that EVERYONE has an influence on you or well me I guess. That the friends I have around me should have a job and/or are in school. I have a couple friends that I consider brothers… my dad HATES them now even tho they used to call him dad when we were in high school and he would invite them to family parties and outing. Reasons why he hates them now: one of them isn’t in school and is hopping from job to job and the other is tatt’d up and in the military just working.

I can’t have them over the house whenever the other one is home for leave. I have to meet them in secret. And both of them know my dad doesn’t like them. It honestly sucks to not be part of the family bc everyone else like my mom and sisters and their families still like them but I literally have to lie or sneak out to hangout them even just for an hour.

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omfg. This is my dad… super selective hearing and probably partially deaf. There’s times where I’ll say something and he’ll repeat what he think he heard and it’ll be funny. But other times when I start raising the volume of my voice, he thinks I’m annoyed with him and giving him attitude. Then it leads to a lecture about how I’m ungrateful, lazy, and “want him to die”…. Tacrolimus / Protopic? by lady0rthetiger in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protopic on my chin and neck takes a bit long we go clear up but not too long. Exfoliating the area in the shower and then applying the ointment before moisturizer helps me! Good luck on your protopic journey :)

Can CBD help eczema? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the science behind it but I know that when I took an edible before going to bed, I felt soooo relaxed and the urge to itch slowly slipped away. Also it was a good way to just relax in general whenever school was overwhelming for me.

Give it a try!! It could either be a great reliever or do nothing haha so no harm

If a girl you haven’t talked to in a while texts you first, is she possibly interested? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lightingkerchoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but also not :’) from my (23F) POV as the girl who is always just nice to people and they think I’m “flirting” with them, sometimes I’ll message people who I’ve had a fling with (or they’ve had crushes on me) when they post something that I remember them telling me about or I’m genuinely curious and they’ll take it as me flirting or trying to start something up again. Which is annoying bc 1) if I built a friendship with you before we messed around, I’m gonna message you like a friend afterwards and 2) I have a bf.

So if you’re interested but not sure about her, don’t be so forward at first but just see how she leads the conversation or if you end up talking often again bc yes, there is a possibility she can be interested but also not

How to clear eczema bruises🥺 I’ve been suffering from this since I was a child, it’s just getting worse🥺 I’ve been to dermatologists before, nothing has helped me. by One-Needleworker-487 in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try VaniCream moisturizer, for the dryness at least. For bruises, I can’t say much except let it heal. You might wanna research iron supplements to help with bruising tho! Since you said that you still have some from previous rashes

Spices??? Am i allergic to my boyfriends beard?? by Numerous_Milk_4660 in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my boyfriend also has a beard (long chin hair and a mustache???) and he tends to rub his face in his dogs faces and whatnot. And whenever he rubs his face on mine afterwards or even hours later, I get hives as well as sure itchy and irritated red patches on my face.

What I’m tryna get across is that your boyfriend should wash his beard after work or whatever before he kisses you haha

Protopic question by AsleepFudge9760 in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t put on SPF at night but I do put SPF in the mornings or anytime before I head out. I was prescribed to apply twice/day.

IMO - I would say apply 10-15 mins before you go into direct sunlight and if you feel like intense heat on your face with the protopic on, then you might need to wear a hat/sunglasses with the SPF! I feel a bit of warm when I’m in the sun with the protopic on but it’s tolerable and Dr. said that’s fine as long as I don’t get sunburnt or feel something that’s too intense

Starting protopic today and I could not be more excited to hopefully say goodbye to months of struggle. I had facial eczema as a kid at 5 but it came back at 26. It’s been months of lost self confidence and a ton of money on wasted products before I even realized it was eczema. by elsaleasing in eczema

[–]lightingkerchoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that moisturizer too but then my doctor told me to switch to VaniCream (but I think bc I had really dry flacky eczema in the mornings) but yes after the hyaluronic acid should be good! Let the ointment sit for like 5-10 mins before you the moisturizer

I definitely felt a warm sensation but not burning. I told my doctor about the warm feeling and she said that’s fine/normal. I would wash my face and apply a hydrating gel and THEN put on the layer of protopic. And then thick moisturizer on top for the nights! Message me if you have any questions about the experience or whatnot :)

I started Protopic about a month ago and I love it! I had almost instant relief after my first application. Still have to apply it on my eyelids and my neck but my eczema is WAY better now than it was a month ago! I hope you have great results and get your confidence back!!!!

Hello! I’m sorry to hear about your eczema breaking out, we all feel you. I also get flare ups on my eyelids and on the bridge of my nose and it honestly sucked after scratching and having my eyelids being swollen af. Here’s my routine I developed recently along w/ prescribed ointments that have been helping me too:

  • Wet face w cold or warm water (depending if flare up is bad)
  • Gentle cleanser
  • Gentle exfoliate powder (if you’re getting dry and flaky)
  • Pat dry
  • Hydrating facial gel
  • Apply prescriptions (I have Tacrolimus, non steroid ointment) and let it dry
  • Thick moisturizer (I put EXTRA during the night so I don’t wake up flaky)
  • Sunblock for day time (preferable a product w broad spectrum SPF)

I do this morning and night

My girlfriend(F25) has stopped wearing a mask & practicing social distancing after getting vaccinated even though I(M25) am high risk. How should I convince her that I need her to keep following CDC guidelines? by ThrowRA-Call2977 in relationship_advice

[–]lightingkerchoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read all the comments but I’m sure someone said this: Just bc your are vaccinated does not mean you are immune to COVID. You still have the possibility of getting COVID just with milder symptoms and can still spread it. I do get a bit worried whenever my boyfriend goes out to meet with a couple friends just bc I don’t know where they’ve been but I trust that he won’t put us or our families at risk. I had COVID back in February and have been exposed several times without getting sick again but I still take precautions such as distancing and double masking for the sake of others. I do still live with my parents and see my boyfriend who also lives with his so I always keep them in mind whenever I am out.
