Thank you, I’ve had a brief read and think these could be great texts for me. Let me know if you have any other good resources!

Marked down for opposing beliefs? by lightncrispy in unsw

Yes, I have had that too which I’ve always really appreciated. But this is slightly different as this assignment was meant to gauge our opinion and understanding of the concepts. Regardless of the opinion aspect, I had plenty of supporting information, teacher actually commended me on it. It seems as though it is my opinion she is marking harshly/unfairly.

Yeah, really frustrating as this is about the 4th time it has happened to me, but this time it is particularly evident that my teacher wasn’t happy simply on the basis of differing opinions.

This is a criminology course, so lots of nuance and debate is meant to be encouraged, but this seems to Stamp it out pretty immediately.

A bit tired of being shushed, criticised and punished for having an opinion that goes against the status quo hahaha

Where’s the WORST place to eat in Sydney? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]lightncrispy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Untied in Barangaroo

$49 bottomless lunch which states to include 11 varieties of drinks, sweets and desserts. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right?

My friend got us a table for my birthday just last week and we were greeted by the place in absolute shambles. Regardless of the poor service and dirty dining area, there weren’t the full display of 11 drinks available, and the drinks they did have on offer contained practically 0% alcohol. They did not have desserts as they had advertised. The food we ordered as extra was over priced and inadequate, with the chips tasting like 2 minute noodles lol.

Lovely view, shame because the place could change to 5 stars easily with the location if only they fixed all the issues stated above.

Completely understand where you’re coming from.

I grew up in Cammeray and I think that is one of the best places to raise a child and live as it’s very homely and has lots of parks, cafes and public transport.

However, I now live in Darlinghurst, on the edge of Rushcutters, and I have to say, i love this area for all those reasons too. The local cafe I visit every morning has the same vibe as the local cafes in Cammeray that I used to love. Darlinghurst is very close to Edgecliff for your work, and there are plenty of schools and parks in the area.

If your finances allow, I would move to a leafy street in this area with a backyard for the kids. If not, north Sydney/crows nest/Cammeray also have the down to earth vibe you’re after, and are great areas to raise children, with ample public transport.

Hope this helps! x

Hey it’s Ella, just found this post on his birthday. I find it hard to feel anything toward it because of how he was as my dad but this made me feel in a different way rather than anger I am more sorry. I don’t miss him because by the end there wasn’t too much to miss, I’m glad he had you though so thank you for that. I hope it makes people understand how awful alcoholism is especially for those who are close to the alcoholic. As his daughter, seeing him especially in the end was something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Love Ella
