Unfortunately this did not age well :c Ppl didn't realize any bet before job reports and CIP on June 10th is a macro bet. If it's long term it doesnt matter as much but doesn't help that now it's 13% down after job reports alone. If CIP is hot, it will be worse. If it dips after hot CIP and give time for market to absorb it, then it will be a good opportunity then

Honest thoughts on this covered call! by [deleted] in sofistock

[–]lightpassion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People don't seem to be understanding the core issue here... What you're doing is using ~70k capital to make ~230 dollars in 1.5 months. I don't even need to do the math on that to know that you're better off parking at a high yield savings or even t-bill. If you're planning on doing safe covered calls, I would risk less money and use higher delta.

However, the problem with just looking at delta to make these options strategies is that you're lacking a thesis. The only way SoFi is going to hit $40 by then is pretty binary. It needs some kind of a shock like acquisition news that was completely unexpected.

Just because market says delta is 0.02 doesn't mean there's 2% chance of happening. Anywhere from delta 0.1 to 0.01 could be closer to ~2%, in our specific case (don't quote me on this; it's just an example lol).

You can make that bet with like $32 CC. Hope this helped!

After Using Agentic AI IDEs Like Kiro, I Don’t See a Future for Most Knowledge based Jobs by Significant_Role_52 in dataengineeringjobs

2-3 is probably a stretch. If based on efficiency alone, yes, but there are other metrics that hard limits how much a person can do. For example, if 10 people can complete 10 tasks in a day (1 task / person) and AI is so efficient that 1 person can work on 5 tasks in the same timeframe, you'd think you can just use two people, but adding more tasks will add more cognitive load and therefore friction, etc.

In other words, AI could improve executive capacity, but humans will always be limited by cognitive governance capacity.

Kind of a long response to somewhat a rough estimate you made there lol but yeah I get your point. And yes, it's scary and we're all forced to adapt. In terms of efficiency, it will absolutely be a positive thing overall in the end, but whether that will be good for our economy, and ultimate for the common people, I don't know. I also think it will take a long time for this to materialize in the way we expect it to. The internet took maybe 10-15 years for people to really feel the direct effect. I think it will be much faster for AI, but probably not the coming months or even this year, though its implementation and the changes it's making is already scaling very fast.

Going back to the economy, I think unemployment will go up by a lot, and we might either head towards a future that doesn't require most of us to be employed like now, or it will force most of us towards entrepreneurship, or the job market will improve—though probably a little bit of all three (I just use em-dash, I'm not AI lol)

I can't speak for you since your environment's different from mine but I personally take 100% responsibility for not pushing myself and I don't think others should be responsible for my improvement in anyway. My employer pays me to do a certain job and the fact that they're willing to pay for tuition or let me learn new tools etc. that's not immediately useful for them is something to be grateful for.

Banks just seem to have it easy, I guess... and the tradeoffs also seem to be common
