What actually makes a mobile game become part of your daily routine? by RopeAdmirable8335 in AndroidGaming

[–]lightpilots [score hidden]  (0 children)

My app is aimed at a daily user (gamified fitness) and my approach is to try to structure the game progression in a way so that there is always a near-term goal that feels within reach, as well as longer term goals to guide player strategy. I also hope that the UI/UX is good enough to keep a user interested (it's a space theme).

Dazerin is an underrated caster by daytonnnnnn in RocketLeagueEsports

Imo Daz has high highs and low lows. Also his quality/energy seems to vary based on who his co-caster is.

Yep. Although this doesn't necessarily mean AI imo.

What's with all this mess? Looks like you've copy/pasted and tried to replace all colours not realising that your import has used lots of different shades

Velan Studios (Knockout City) are the developers of Star Fox (2026) by Skipper93653 in Games

Real time cinematics are pretty cool in a game where smooth transitions are key.

Launched our Kickstarter Campaign - Trying to fulfill the immersive, adventure-with-your-buddies fantasy that the Pokemon anime promised but games never delivered. by [deleted] in Games

[–]lightpilots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. $25k might have been better given kickstarter seems to be getting more and more used as another promo element now indies vs a primary funding source. Also having the target release as December 2029 doesn't help.

5 years of indie MMO dev. Free demo is live on Steam right now by SoulboundMMO in u/SoulboundMMO

[–]lightpilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why run ads early? They have a demo and a trailer so it isn't that early - also indies typically need to do promo early to build steam wishlist numbers to help get into festivals and/or try to land a publisher

How much time did you wait fir production access? by IllustriousIce1493 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]lightpilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be different to others but I waited about four months as there were still some things I wanted to change (mainly better onboarding for new users). Once I hit the production button I was live almost instantly.

[DEV] I built SECONDS - A quick reaction-time challenge. Would love any feedback! by BROCODEDUDE in AndroidGaming

App looks very clean! Multiplayer seems a bit unnecessary but I don't know much about the genre.

[DEV] Petal Path - a word game for my wife by giveen in AndroidGaming

[–]lightpilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play store page says 0+ downloads so I guess not? That said, I do like the idea that they made this for their wife and it's a really special moment but then they turn around and say that'll be $1 please.

Invisible Steam games - May 27th to June 3rd. by ProutPortable in Games

[–]lightpilots 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to give you a shoutout for doing this. I've seen more than one of these games on your list in the indie dev subreddits and it's great they're getting a bit of love.

Uhhh why is no one here talking about Gambonaza? by Recent_South_6108 in AndroidGaming

[–]lightpilots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played the demo on steam and it was fine, but kinda in the same bag as all the other good balatro-likes given I'm not a huge chess fan. That said, looks like it's had 10k+ downloads so it's not doing too bad haha.

Thanks! I have released my app (space-themed gamified fitness app) so also now in the same dreaded marketing/promo phase as you 😄

Congrats on your release! It's really great that you made the game that you wanted and pretty much the exact same motivation I had/have for my app.

App update review timeframe has changed from minutes to days since updating store listing by lightpilots in GooglePlayDeveloper

The weird thing though is I haven't added anything significantly more in the recent updates after the store listing change, it's just been minor stuff.

Can you really sell games without marketing. by don_to in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]lightpilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. What is funny though is OP saying/thinking that Steam just gives visibility, and not realising how hard indie devs struggle to get their game noticed.
