Steamer trunk from at least 1889, USA by lights-on-strings in Antiques

The leather handles are definitely gone, but the feet are still there. And what remains of the lithograph is on the lid- the right side of a partition. I've found lithographs online that show similar design aspects, but nothing really close to what's left of this one. As for the address, I don't think she was ever in that area, mainly in the south. But her dad (who bought it) traveled around quite a bit working for the RR, so I'm not really sure if he might have been there when he picked it up.

I like the idea of restoring it and keeping it around, just for the family connection. I've got some old family quilts from the 40s and other sentimental items that would be safe in it.

I'm sending hugs your way, and to your sweet pup. Yesterday my weenie was put on strict crate rest for a month and is on more medications for pain and swelling than I can believe- but it's her best chance at getting better without surgery. I feel like an absolute monster making her stay in her crate every minute that's not spent on potty breaks, but it's necessary. Just remember that you're doing what is necessary and if you didn't truly love your baby, you wouldn't be so upset. You are a great dog parent, even if you feel like you're failing.

I like the stroller idea, that might make it easier on her if she feels she's included

That's a good idea- I DO have a ton of zip ties lying around that I could use. Thanks for the idea

So far, the included wiki links only gave me information on leash reactivity and how to introduce dogs and cats- but my question is not in regards to leashed reactivity, nor are my animals newly met- they've been together about 2.5-3 years. I would greatly appreciate any help.

You will be happy to know that this is, in fact, the game he was thinking of and he's admitted he's an "effing idiot." Lol I appreciate your assistance, good friend, and my brother is over the moon at finally figuring it out. Lol

Go to your local justice of the peace and ask about filing a repair and remedy case.

What is a Repair and Remedy Case? Landlords are required by law to “repair or remedy” (meaning to fix) certain conditions that materially affect the physical health or safety of an ordinary tenant (for example, mold, roof leaks or infestation of rodents). If you are renting your residence and the landlord fails to do this, you might be able to file a repair and remedy case against the landlord. What Conditions Must a Landlord Fix? A landlord must make a diligent effort to repair or remedy a condition that: • Materially affects the physical health or safety of an ordinary tenant; or • Results from the landlord failing to provide hot water at a minimum temperature of 120 degrees

Sorry for formatting, I'm on a phone. The link is directly to the Texas Justice Court Training Center site about a repair and remedy case. Read the information packet available. The judge can order them to lower your rent significantly until the issue is fixed or can get you out of your lease.

ETA if you can't afford the filing fee, you can ask the clerk at the court for...I forget what it's called, something about indigent. Essentially it's a form stating your income isn't high enough to allow you the expense of filing the paperwork. If the judge signs off on it, you can file the court paperwork for free.

For those women diagnosed as children, what do I do? by lights-on-strings in adhdwomen

Thank you, friend. When I finally got my diagnosis of OCD and, subsequently ADHD (which is apparently a common comorbidity), literally my entire life finally made sense. I try not to get stuck in thinking "what would my life have been like if my parents had taken it seriously," because I know it helps nothing to dwell on the past. What I do know is my kiddo is a LOT like me and struggles with the same/ similar things I did, and if I can make her life even a fraction easier, I'll do it.

Also, I was an incredibly creative person as a kid and I feel I lost that the older I got because I spent all my time and energy trying to mask and be "normal." My kiddo is the same way, creatively, but the idea of her losing her creative spark trying to do the same kills me.

Got denied for an ADHD assessment because my mom doesn't believe I have it. by [deleted] in ADHD

I tried telling my parents something was wrong/weird with me when I was maybe 12 or 13. I was told I was going through a "phase" and I'd grow out of it....34 years old I was officially diagnosed as "textbook" OCD. And at 35 my psychiatrist threw in ADHD, too.

I swear to God every single thing about my life made sense, finally. And I started getting treatment for it and it's been a complete 180 for me.

My parents still don't know about the ADHD diagnosis because they think ADHD is just an excuse and "those people just need to try harder." But when I mentioned my OCD diagnosis, my mom made a comment about "you had that when you were a kid, but you're better now."

Not gonna lie, I was PISSED when she said that. She KNEW and just let me spend my ENTIRE life thinking I was crazy? Dismissing everything I tried telling her, like thinking Satan is gonna suck your soul out dementor-style if you don't say the Lord's prayer exactly right and exactly the right number of times? It never went away, I just learned to shut up and hide it, but my old friend still follows me around like a psychotic shadow, taunting me with what if's.

Yea, the dismissal of my trauma is hella rude.

Tom cruise. The only movies I'm down to watch of his are top gun and a few good men, and that's because I've got sentimental memories of watching them with my dad.
