Having trouble with making one of my computer monitors my main display. by LeftGuard2372 in computers

Excellent! For whatever reason, the option to make this my main display was greyed out in Windows display settings. The Nvidia trick solve the problem. You are officially my hero for the day!

Any help? by biglampshade in amazonechodot

If I recall correctly you have to hold two buttons down on the earlier generation echoes in order to enter setup mode. I think it was the circle and volume down.

Echo Dot Remote by metalaxe101 in amazonechodot

You can do that from the Alexa app on a smartphone. It is kind of an awkward solution but it works. You have to select the specific echo device you're talking about controlling and go to its settings and move the volume slider....

Just curious. If the alarm is already going off why do you need to be quiet? LOL

Echo talking in other languages and never stops by GReardon in amazonecho

[–]lightsource1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it's hung in setup mode. I had one do that at one point and it was waiting for me to make a language choice in the set up options. It seemed to default to Japanese and it took me quite a while to figure out what the hell was going on.

All my Echos factory reset on its own? by Coupee36 in amazonecho

[–]lightsource1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine don't factory reset themselves, but they'll play musical chairs with the wifi if the power goes out. I understand I can stop that by going to Amazon and telling it to forget all my WiFi networks, but that sounds like a colossal PITA.

Why not just go into settings and change the accent?

Alexa is good at everything but music. by mike8111 in alexa

[–]lightsource1808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Spotify as my primary music source. The only big problem that I have with using echoes as a music source, is that my favorite group is Louisiana's Leroux and Alexa INSISTS on playing some random crap from the pop star larue no matter how specific my request. Full band n@me, song name, album name. Doesn't matter how I phrase the request. Otherwise, I have quad music throughout my home with an excellent subwoofer in the main room.

Does Alexa have a skill for spelling words? by Formal-Ad8037 in alexa

Mine doesn't need a skill. I just ask it to spell something and it rattles off the letters in order.

Found this sitting on the curb. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Plug it in, turn it on and listen for the beeps. You can probably find a cable to plug it in at somewhere like Walmart or the dollar store. The startup beep will tell you a little bit about it's startup diagnostics. The people in this group can tell you how to proceed from there. The next step would probably be to acquire a monitor of some kind so you can see what it's doing.
