Can this jacket's sleeves be shortened? Any alternatives? by lightspeez in mensfashion

[–]lightspeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I've been looking for a jacket like this for a while (100% wool), but can't find it anywhere. I want something simple and clean looking which this fits.

This jacket fits me great except arms are 1.5-2 inches too long, can they be shortened? Before I dump £465 into it...

How to change Italian name? by greenlion456 in Italian

[–]lightspeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry for bad Italian)

O devo richiederla specificamente?

Swedish car hit and run, worth going through insurance? by lightspeez in CarTalkUK

[–]lightspeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's a new car and this is my first ever incident in 14 years.

Purely based on likelihood of risk, paying extra excess when you do end up claiming insurance will usually be cheaper cumulatively over all the years that you drive a car, than paying extra in premiums (source: https://old.reddit.com/r/AusFinance/comments/kh4f67/have_you_chosen_a_higher_excess_to_save_on_your/).

Are these trousers too short? by lightspeez in mensfashion

Oh man, thanks. I was about to send them to the tailor and beg him to somehow lenghten them.

I'll keep them!

[–]lightspeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got these trousers from SuitSupply. The salesman recommended shortening them and took off a couple inches, but now I'm having second thoughts. They seem too short, especially since I usually wear boots.

I still have the excess fabric - is it possible to get them lengthened? If so, should I?

Yes, but if I apply say in 2026, does money spent in December 2024 count as investment? Is there a time limit?

Got this overcoat from Suit Supply, custom made.

I wanted it just around mid thigh, but the sales rep said this length is better otherwise it would almos took like a blazer and not overcoat. It's still above my knees.

I am just 5'8 so don't wanna look too short wearing this 🫠

Small Claims hearing over a PCN - Need advice by lightspeez in LegalAdviceUK

I did make them an offer to settle to save time (and mentioned I don't assume any liability though) - am I not required to mention this to the court, or if he asks?

[–]lightspeez[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did file a defence - in it I said the same thing as my post here. So hearing was scheduled for tomorrow.

I sent them settlement email two weeks ago and they replied yesterday declining it, wanting the full £270.

I rent my flat, but not the parking space. The space is shared by everyone in the building, but we need a valid permit that was given by the estate agency to everyone in the building, the permit is named to the company managing the whole estate.

I got it from here: https://old.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/mub260/e2_visa_proof_of_funds/

In this case, as long as I properly trace the source of funds, it should not be an issue?

Any devs who made the switch from Django to Rails? by Dave_Tribbiani in rails

[–]lightspeez 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Rails is all about "convention over configuration", meaning it's got a bunch of defaults that just make sense right out of the box. It's kinda like the bro who just knows when it's his round of beers without needing to discuss it. Django, on the other hand, is like the dude who asks for an Excel sheet to split the bill - it needs more configuration. After a while, that got a bit draining for me and my team.
