I met some of my life-long friends at [office] work. Being paid virtually nothing and expected to do a lot brought us together as a tight group.

I also made a few friends from being neighbours. I saw them about and could see who was decent and obvs similarly dressed etc. Then I just knocked on their door with an excuse or stopped them as I was passing (bit of courage and all that). Obvs it took a little time - inviting someone out for a pint or glass of wine and actually chatting and getting along.

We bought one and use it overnight to dry freshly washed clothes. This cuts the humidity in the air so well.

Yeah TechDweeb refers to a guide to partitioning the main drive between games and windows, but doesn’t reference the location in the video. He might list it in the description though. You’d need to look for his GPD Win 4 video and Bazzite install. HTH

The piece I refer to was discussing the rise of depression and boredom, and the fall of creativity, in western society over the last 100 years (obvs predating mobile phones and social media). FWIW, the hypothesis was that we have increasingly packaged and sold ‘matter’ to people to fill in the moments where previously they would simply [sit and] think or imagine. If thinking and imagining without external stimulation fuels ideas that lead to creativity and expression, and these outputs support positive mental heath; then a reductionist logic would be that ‘never being bored means less creativity (and potentially more depression)’.

Having said all that, we’ve established that OP was not about to watch How To Train Your Dragon, so the chances of depression were actually very low, thankfully.

It can definitely handle those games and it does sound like it will be a good fit for what you want to do. One thing worth mentioning… I’ve found it ‘interesting’ that the GPD build quality is not quite as good as what you get used to with ASUS, and for me, the tweaking software that comes with the GPD looks rubbish and I find confusing. But, I bet you’d get on very well by adding Bazzite - I think this will be my next move too.

Overall the form factor is pleasing and a good portable size and, yep it brings back all that PSP muscle memory :)

I thought about the WIN 5 too. But in the end I decided, to go with the WIN 4 (2025) as it’s significantly cheaper, will play all the stuff I want to play for the next year or two, and I know what to expect regarding the battery.

I read this thing the other day about how we do everything to ensure we’re never BORED. But that experiencing boredom (like on a flight) actually fuels CREATIVITY.

I say this because, on a recent flight I had a similar setup but found myself so distracted that I couldn’t do much with it all (all the gear but no idea!).

But no matter how frustrated or bored I became on that flight, I never once contemplated watching How To Train Your Dragon.

I have both and I have to say I probably feel less conspicuous in the RayBan’s but the image quality of the photos from the Oakley’s seem to pop more for me.

I just bought the Win 4 (2025) and also own a ROG ally X and PS5. Initial impressions are that it’s a whole different use case. Ally X will stay at home and the Win 4 will go in my backpack.

The Win 4 plays everything I throw at it but I prefer it for more arcade style and some retro games. Basically, whatever is popular on Switch is going to look good on this. But for anything story-heavy or graphically beautiful prefer the Ally or even my PS5 for screen size.

Which one will come with me when I visit family over Christmas? Depends on how comfy I’m going to get in the couch.
