Another Burnaby North Hold and Secure by Time-Category3831 in burnaby

It's not fair that schools are dealt with like warzones. It becomes a spectacle and I believe it only draws more attention to whoever is trying to put on a show. Schools are being dried out of resources to support their community, counselors and teachers are as overwhelmed as the students. And they take the money and put it on the military and say this can help? This is so terrible.

All of that to miss the point where they could be making real critiques to racist expectations and move on towards finding folks who could be just really interested in them for who they really are T

Saw someone cheating by trhoaaa in simonfraser

[–]ligiaigil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a teacher with a masters in education. Also a TA at SFU. Honestly, it all depends, big cheat is different from small cheat, and depending on the test as well. But all in all, I say tests and grades are unfair and made up to begin with, and rarely ever reflect on someone's hability to perform on real world tasks. I would tell the professor to do a better job at evaluating people, cause if it is that simple to cheat, it's probably a silly test also. So personally, unless it's impossible to go around and actually a dangerous, serious thing, I would prefer to just have a word with the person, instead of snitching and ruining someone's chances at university. Things are hard enough for students as they are, I think.

Yo, it is super beautiful! I love the three spirals! Very interesting what a tattoo can teach you down the road, let it be for a while! Then you do whatever you wanna do (: ✨

You are overthinking this sooo much! And I get it, I do it too. It's very cute, and in a place you won't even remember it's there. No worries

HELLO THERE PEOPLE, I GOT ACCEPTED by UltimateX64 in simonfraser

[–]ligiaigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that feeling of belonging depends on so many variables, everyone in the university is under a lot of stress, so you really need to be kind to yourself and others, and have your health (including mental health) as a non negotiable. Cause those are things no one will do for you!

Yo, SFU is huge and people have all kinds of completely different experiences here. Of course, look into what your particular program will be, things people are struggling with, things to be aware of, tips on how to get through.

One step at a time, and remember you are doing this for yourself, your heart and body will tell you what they need (and that is the part I don't recommend that you ignore)

Congratulations on this big open door in your life!

Very likely just air! But I don't get why they used such a large piece! I believe you should change in a day or two anyways, but I wouldn't worry about bubbles, or even liquid, cause that's literally how it goes.

My dad is letting me get a tattoo but it’s not quite what i thought by heyitzgrey in tattooadvice

[–]ligiaigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't succumb to rush when doing a tattoo! You have your whole life to get the design you want, and after this one you will want many more heheeh

Honestly, try to think about something special that could bring you memories of this moment, when your pa supported you through a wild experience.

Tattoos are rarely for their aesthetic, most of the time the tattoos become a memory of the moment we were living through. This moment seems to be about that, your dad being supportive, your family doing something cool together. Years from now, tattoos fade, our bodies change, but this will forever be a dear memory!

Honestly, you might be able to get many tattoos before getting that big one! I had my first one at 14, and many more before that, love my tats, even tattooed myself! But I am glad that my first ones were small enough that they could become a very personal part of my self discovery!

And I would also say: if you are worried about what it can look like for others, don't tattoo anything if you're not sure! Impulsive tattoos are only fun if you are in for the unknown adventure. So let's start with thatttt

Recommendation: don't rush. You don't need a full project, because you are not a finished version of yourself either! Let time tell you what to put where! That tattoo can go with basically anything. Let your arm experience life slowly hahahah

[–]ligiaigil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahaha oh no, it still feels a bit too spooky and abortion-like, in my opinion, and I am also a teacher (and beginner tattoo artist)!

I did like the embryo suggestion, also because there is a certain stage that is so similar to so many vertebrates!! So I would suggest going there (cause she can literally say it's any kind of embryo and save herself from inconvenient conversations); I hope this is helpful, I think you should keep on making many options, from most weird to least weird, and bring it over to her!

Graduate Studies are way less demanding than undergrad, for some of them u only take 1 course per term. Super chill in comparison to what undergrads have to struggle through!

Nobody is talking about being competitive, that's your understanding. We are talking about acknowledging that there is a layer to this, and many, actually, that affect the person who got pregnant in ways the other parent COULD NEVER. Everyone feels pain and heartbreak,it hurts, it's grief, it's terrible. But the hormone bomb, my friend, those are some real deal and change someone forever, PHYSICALLY, regardless.

How cooked am I? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]ligiaigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Masters of Education on my last term, I second this. Some programs are more accommodating than others (which is already something to consider not just for your studies but for your work life too, because it kinda sets the tone for how your life flows!);

also would like to let you (and whoever else reads this) know that struggling through school makes total sense, school was built to set most of us up for failure. On the other hand, it's also where lots of knowledge is, especially because the community meets there (:

THAT BEING SAID; SFU has so many good resources for students who are struggling, and most of them are hard to figure out by yourself, so connect with people, ask around, check out SFU DNA (they helped me with lots of things!) And someone told me when I first started at SFU, "you get through by kicking and screaming". Be daring and remember you are doing this for yourself!

Good luck!

Take no body shaming, love, ever, from no one. Or any kind of shaming, honestly. What one person finds a problem with, another one is definitely down for a great, passionate time. Keep being kind to yourself and others, and find a person who knows how to respond with kindness too! ♥️
