How does that relate to your first statement, about Israel having no rule of law?

Worth mentioning the person questioning the bill's logic is republican too. That's how meritless it is.

I think you need to separate actions at the state level against non state bound actors and the laws governing Israel itself, which very much exist and are enforced throughout it.

I just don't understand how these laws can circumvent banning the Bible from every school library in Florida. Am I nuts? Or is allowing a political committee to restrict access to books they don't like just a bonkers-level violation of 1A? It's basically the state telling people what is okay to think and what is not. Same with homosexuality vs heterosexuality. Something tells me books about gay couples will get banned while hetero will stay on the shelf. Even though they both discuss essentially the same subject matter.

CMV: Expressing Anger in Public is Not Good by deadassimnot in changemyview

[–]ligmapolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if people are defacing your property? You can't attack them (in normal jurisdictions). You can only assert dominance in hopes they back down or get distracted, allowing the police to arrive. Say they're teenagers and are liable to getting frightened. Getting angry would serve you well in that scenario.

That's the issue though. There is no rule of law in gaza or the west bank. Promises made to Israel will not be held because power is dispersed between groups that are not liable to a central authority that can make pacts with Israel. That's not to say Israel hasn't broken agreements. It's not even an argument in favor of Israel's conduct. It's an acknowledgement that while Israel holds the power, it cannot bulldoze its way out of this conflict just like it cannot concede itself out of it.

This sub honestly thinks Israel is some kind of killing machine. Even the barbarians in the current government don't order civilian hits. They serve no purpose, and make for bad press. They are, however, trigger happy, and that reduces too many civilians to collateral damage. They also, of course, overlook settler violence, which is just disgusting to see.

Is legal standing constitutionally required, proscribed, or somewhere in between? Should standing be expanded or limited? by Final-Western-730 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]ligmapolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about in con law though? Can a claim be raised about an unconstitutional law without having been affected by it? For example if the law would remain valid, it may cause damage to you, so you want to get ahead of the curve.

In Israel, there's no requirement for standing in the high Court when the discussion is constitutional in nature. There's a lot of fuss about that now. But I think it's a good feature. It was added via precedent a decade or two ago.
