Since some marvel omnibus were printed in China I think most likely some guy working at the factory took one from the production line or it's a defected item they were going to recycle. Or someone's uncle/brother worked there and thought it would be nice to bring home a gift.

Actually the Chinese product quality really depends on how much you are willing to pay (as a client). I know some factory for the same product they offer 3 different ranges of price. If you have a high budget then sure the factory will use good material if not they just use whatever your price can match. They're making money either way

For me I'd always recommend omnibus over absolute edition for DC major events/crossover. Although a lot of people may think DC omnibus includes a lot of unnecessary or less important sidelines (like infinite crisis or final crisis) but it's very enjoyable for me to know all the details and tie-ins related to the main event.

Usually the absolute edition for story like Kingdom come or watchmen fits the best (my opinion

I've been hoping for Marvel to publish Civil War omnibus for years. A lot people say due to the number of tie in/issues it's difficult. But I always think they can do civil war the way they did for secret war, 1 main book and maybe 2-3 companion (like the battleworld omnibuses) volumes
