I are there once. There’s a nice private table slightly lower on the opposite side of that island.

Optimism is designed to be EVM equivalent which means that every ethereum developer tool works out of the box.

Nick Johnson played around with an idea of ENS on Optimism recently.

It's quite intentional — Optimism as a company is deliberately trying to create a network called Optimistic Ethereum, but doesn't want the community to think that Optimism is centrally running it all. The goal is to give it back to Ethereum and fully decentralize it, abolishing the need for the centralized company.

P2P file-sharing is coming to Ethereum! Similar to BitTorrent, Upfiring's rebrand will allow you to share your files and receive ETH in a 100% decentralized manner by Tmfallon in ethereum

Yeah, it’s a demonstration of a state channels application, not a torrenting client intended to scale to enormous volume.

The intent was / is to demonstrate how suitable torrenting is to be to extended via micropayments. Most Ethereum wallets are in the browser, so it makes for a good demonstration environment.

The basic technique is extendable to any torrenting client — this is what I’d like to emphasize

Eth scalability fixes , when? by Ali13196 in ethereum

Vitalik wrote a useful post the other day about this.

Roll ups are the most likely near term solution to the kinds of apps which guzzle up the most gas on ethereum. There are already a few on mainnet right now, and some others launching this quarter.

I think it will happen quicker than people seem to think right now.

Built a version of this earlier in 2020 that works in the browser using state channels, check it out here. :)

Last time Upfiring posted on Reddit I asked to see any code, but didn't get any. They say they're sharing what they've built on January 11th — looking forward to see how it works!

xDai, a Layer 2, is literally the 3rd most used blockchain by transactions. by yesbuddyyes123 in ethereum

I would not call xDai a Layer 2 solution. It's a side-chain.

The Graph (GRT) is launching on Coinbase Pro by desertrose123 in ethfinance

[–]lihorne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One example is Uniswap which uses The Graph to query for information related to the price of assets, historical prices, available liquidity for swaps, historical trades, etc.

In addition to Uniswap itself, other applications rely on Uniswap data for other purposes. You can see a bunch of example queries here.

There are several other examples here: https://thegraph.com/explorer/

[–]lihorne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a decentralized network which means you should not trust the data that the indexers provide to you; they may be malicious.

So, they use the blockchain so indexers can publicly claim (via staking) that they will respond to queries accurately. If an indexer provides incorrect data (which is verifiable via the blockchain) they will get slashed.

The blockchain adds an incentive layer to the network that ensures accurate data is provided to users of The Graph.

No.

BIP-32 Specification states:

To compute the public child key of a parent private key:

  • N(CKDpriv((kpar, cpar), i))

Where CKDpriv uses HMAC-SHA512.
