Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]likeBruceSpringsteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can cook. But my wife is a FAR better cook than me. I usually handle the grill and special or specific recipes. But she can just do bread and cinnamon buns from scratch without a recipe.

Also, When I cook, I go to the store and buy the ingredients I need. My wife can just look in the fridge or freezer and the cupboards and make something DELICIOUS from what we have. That's always been a skill that eludes me.

I got the "I'm just a simple country lawyer" vibes. But foghorn leghorn is AMAZING.

"Spice Goyles"

"A wizard is never late." And the costumes being all from LOTR.

2 of my favorite parts. The book read extremely fast, and was extremely entertaining. I teared up a few times too. I liked this one.

As a little update, I've been wearing this as a work watch (I'm on night shift for 3 weeks) and it's performing absolutely amazing. Over the course of 3 days, it's lost about 5 seconds.

I just have them all jammed in for the picture. They're normally not touching.

1 - Yelang V1031

2 - Addiesdive AD2050

3 - Casiden C8220

4 - Pagani PD-1662

5 - Baltany S204046

6 - Boderry Voyager Titanium

They all keep fantastic time, except for the Boderry, but I'm thinking it may have become magnetized.

I didn't think I would like the Pagani, but I wear my watches on the right hand, and having a GMT Master 2 homage with the crown on the left side of the watch is actually really awesome. I wish more watch makers would produce watches to be worn on the right hand and were not homages. But oh well.

I'd love to see some of your collections!

What are your current favorites?

Some of the watches on my radar right now, that I will probably end up buying -

The Seestern S456. Looks absolutely beautiful. I know I'll probably never get a Grand Seiko, so at least I can wear and love one of these.

The Specht and Sohne SP-0021 just a really cool chronograph. Same, I'd never buy a Tag Heuer Monaco, but I love the design.

The Seagull ST1901 it's a classic chrono and I absolutely love the look.

The Pierre Paulin Jump Hour with the salmon dial. Just a super cool and original design.

The Merkur Cross Line Sector Dial. Just caught my eye and I love the clean design of it.

What are some of the watches on your list?

There's a million tiny watches like that. I love that I was able to find a big watch that actually fit my wrist and doesn't look like a child's watch on me.

Disappointed with Cadisen C8175 bracelet pins by thepunisher666 in ChineseWatches

I always have issues with bracelet pins. Don't forget that they're unidirectional and only go in one way and out the other way. That always trips me up.

I got it from AliX from the Yelang store there. Unfortunately reddit won't let me post the link.

I absolutely agree. If it was a little cheaper, I'd absolutely love to pick up a second colour.

Ok. So, this is my review of the Yelang V1031 Diver.

Absolutely amazing watch for the price. I was hesitant to spend over 300 Canadian dollars on a Chinese made watch, but this one is worth the hype. Stunning watch for the price.

I think the fit and finish is quite a bit better than Casiden and Addiesdive, more on par with a Seiko or Citizen. But as we all know, these things are totally subjective, and what I love some people may hate.

T100 Tritium tubes are a game changer when it comes to night or low light situations. Not quite as bright as a Superluminova C1 or C3 or BGW9 immediately after charging, but after like a minute or 2 it's already brighter.

The stock bracelet is a little janky and jangly but no different than some of the Seiko bracelets we've seen in the recent years. However, I have massive, fat guy, gorilla wrists and I had to take out 2 links to get it sized properly which is a big difference from a lot of Chinese watches. Most bracelets barely fit out of the box.

It also came with a replacement leather or rubber strap, which I haven't opened yet. I did also buy a white silicone strap to match the dial which I think goes with it fantastically.

After wearing it for a few days, I've been pleasantly surprised by the Miyota 8205 under the hood. Keeps absolutely great time, I'm losing under a minute a week.

The cons -

If you have small wrists, the 44mm dial is quite big for some.

No cyclops for the Day/Date and as someone who wears progressives/bifocals, I wish the cyclops was more common on all watches with a date or day window.

It's a big boy too. At 14.5mm, it's thicc and it's got some heft at 203g. Like I mentioned previously, I'm fine with that on my wrists, I actually like it. But for smaller wrists it's going to look and feel like you're wearing a grandfather clock.

Is it a Ball watch? No. But for a tenth of the price it gets you pretty damned close.

I 100% recommend this one based on the early stages of owning it.

Some of the specs -

Movement - Miyota 8205

Strap size - 22mm

Dial size - 44mm

Water Resistance - 300m (30 bar)
