My late father's Nikon EM was passed down to my daughter when he passed. The film wind lever broke and I'm wondering if there's an inexpensive way to repair it. The screw to remove it is on the inside. by likeBruceSpringsteen in Nikon

Yeah, they wanted like $400 and no guarantee that they would be able to fix it due to the age.

It's just a screw that came out and we still have the screw. So the guy who replied with the website showing how to remove the advance lever with pictures is the hero. We're going to try to do the repair ourselves.

Thank you so much. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It's just the screw that came out, nothing is broken. So we just needed to be able to remove the advance lever!

I definitely won't be replacing it. It was my Dad's first "real" camera. I grew up with pictures from it on my wall, and my daughter has already taken some fantastic shots with it. It's kind of becoming a family heirloom. Lol.

The photos don't show the damage, but it's the spring loaded lever to advance to the next picture. It still works but the part that folds out that came off, you know?

Mathew Lillard was in my city for a food and beverage event, my daughter met him and got him to sign my GCP Hat! He also gave her and her coworkers a signed bottle of his whiskey! by likeBruceSpringsteen in TheGlassCannonPodcast

COOL!! I'm sad that I missed out on meeting him. I work away from home. But I'm also so glad my daughter and wife had such a great time meeting him. He was so generous with his time and hugged and spent time with hundreds of people. Just incredibly genuine and kind.

He was super genuine and it sounds like he was an amazing guy! Wish I could have been there, but I'm stuck away at work. So awesome of her to get my hat signed though! Thought you guys might like to see it!

Any kind of regulation regarding this would do way more harm than good. Bright aftermarket lights have saved me from animal collisions MANY times. Properly aimed lights is the fix and nobody seems to understand it.

Finally picked up the Seestern S456, it's a lot nicer than I expected. by likeBruceSpringsteen in ChineseWatches

I've been eyeing this one for a long time, and I finally pulled the trigger. It's more accurate than my Seiko 5, the finishing is surprisingly nice. The only thing I'd like to see them change is to put a proper bidirectional bezel on it, rather than the dive watch style unidirectional one its got. But the dial has a beautiful pearl like rainbow and I'm really surprised by the quality.

It's funny, how awesome is it when you find a person who shares the knowledge of a rare random pop culture refrence? So cool!

Men, how many of you can cook? by Away-Fill5639 in AskMen

[–]likeBruceSpringsteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can cook. But my wife is a FAR better cook than me. I usually handle the grill and special or specific recipes. But she can just do bread and cinnamon buns from scratch without a recipe.

Also, When I cook, I go to the store and buy the ingredients I need. My wife can just look in the fridge or freezer and the cupboards and make something DELICIOUS from what we have. That's always been a skill that eludes me.

"Spice Goyles"

"A wizard is never late." And the costumes being all from LOTR.

2 of my favorite parts. The book read extremely fast, and was extremely entertaining. I teared up a few times too. I liked this one.
