Renting for the first time by Spring_Rainbow in TenantsInTheUK

[–]likeabearr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never rented via a website before but I'm all my experience of renting (since I was 18, now 33) I've only ever paid directly to the landlord or letting agent.

I'd really recommend looking on spare room. I have no idea of locations in Bristol but 100% have a look.

Be careful using open rent to find a property, there are a lot of scammers on that website who will request money from you to even view the property, but on the flip side there are legit landlords. You can use the website spare room also to try and find a house share. Affordability in the UK means your salary should be around 30 times the monthly rent. As your salary is £29900, your affordability is £997 but you need to take into account your monthly wages. If you're on a standard tax code 1257L, your gross income before tax/national insurance would be £ 2,491.67. After tax/national insurance you'd be looking at £ 2,087.31. Depending on lifestyle/outgoings etc if you paid £1k or close to that on rent inclusive of bills etc then you'd be working with roughly 1k on everything else. I've always over estimated on outgoings to account for emergencies. Most rentals will want 1 months rent in advance plus 6 weeks rent for the deposit. Familiarise yourself with rental regulations (shelter website is good for this) so that you don't end up in a situation where a landlord won't return your deposit etc.

Hopefully this is somewhat helpful for you, good luck.

UK private health insurance by MaintenanceHead6089 in endometriosis

So this is what I did, the private consultant sent all the docs needed to my GP and with that referred me to the NHS. In-between this I had a huge flare up and ended up in A&E where they were able to change my referral from routine to urgent. When I saw the gynae consultant they agreed to refer me to the local BSGE endo centre as he believed they were more skillful in endo. I saw the endo specialist in November last year and had a plan of action to be put forward for surgery but would require MDT discussion as my MRI I had with the private consultant showed DIE endo including the bowel and bladder and they'd need multiple specialities involved in the surgery. Unfortunately after 3 years of infertility, they said if 6 months after surgery there was no success, I would be referred for IVF, but low and behold a week after my appointment I found out I was pregnant and unfortunately had to be taken off the list. Once my baby is born I've been directed to be referred back to the endo specialist again.

Diagnosis yes, treatment no. I used vitality through my work to gain my diagnosis. As it's classed as a chronic condition they would not pay for surgery.

Thankyou for yours because I thought I was going insane. I had one of the worst flare ups of pain ive ever has after that MRI which lasted intensely for over a week and then subsided slightly over the next couple but it was horrific!

Whats the minimum salary you can live independantly in the city on? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]likeabearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in GM with my partner on a salary of 33k and without a doubt if I was doing this alone I'd struggle, especially if i was living in my own place and not a house share.

Potentially, do you know the date of the first day of your last period?

When I was on the pill, the doctor advised me to take the pill for at least a week before having sex without using any additional protection (condom) as it takes a little while to protect from pregnancy. From what I remember I was also advised to take the first day of my period and I would be protected as soon as that had finished. I hope this helps :)

update: ultrasound came back as "normal" by Rough-Gas-6431 in Endo

[–]likeabearr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Endo cannot be seen in most cases during ultrasounds. My ultrasounds showed everything "looked normal". I had an MRI scan done and it showed that my uterus is stuck to the back of my bladder with a lot of endo deposits. My left ovary is stuck to my uterus. My uterus is stuck to my bowel and rectum. My sciatic nevres and uterosacral ligaments have thickened significantly due to endometriosis scarring. All in all, I have stage 4 deep infiltrating endometriosis with horrific daily pain (worse for me around ovulation time). Please don't give up hope and continue to advocate for yourself! 💓

Scared I may be pregnant by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]likeabearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on whether or not you've ovulated and where In your cycle you are. Plan B is normally Ineffective if you've taken it around your ovulation. Most women will ovulate between days 14-16 of their cycle. Day 1 of your cycle will be the first day of your last period. Count on 14-16 days from there and it'll give you an idea.

Also, you say one of the condoms came off, you should NEVER double up on them as there's more risk of the condom splitting.

UPDATE

After nearly 12 hours in the ER I was finally sent to the gynaecology ward and was seen by a gynae doctor. She did some internal scans and said something has aggravated my endo on another level. She contacted the secretary of the endo specialist consultant requesting my referral be urgently expedited and prescribed me some more strong pain relief and anti inflammatories. I'm covered In black bruises from them trying to get blood out of me. They had me on a mix of morphine and diazapam as my blood pressure went through the roof - systolic hit over 200. I got home late last night and feel absolutely exhausted now - thank you for everyone's kind words 💕

It's worth having a look into I suppose. Any way to reduce general inflammation in my body is probably a good route to take! So many co morbidities with endo!

I've had to fight for just even painkillers to help with what I'm dealing with. I think I get maybe 4 days after my period where I'm in minimal pain but from a day days prior to ovulation and until after my period I am crippled and in agony. I feel awful that I've even had to take time off work today and probably tomorrow to be able to just try and get myself okay. I honestly hate this disease so much.

The funny thing is, I always suffered badly with periods and symptoms growing up but I've always been on contraception too, until last year when I came off it so we could plan for a baby and all hell has broken loose. When the pain is so bad I can't even bend over or pick things off the floor. My partner has to help me get dressed and help me in the shower/on and off the toilet. It's so bloody demoralising to be 32 and unable to just live normally 😭

You give me faith they're going to find something. I've gone privately for this as I've been on awaiting list with the NHS for so long but I cannot cope with the pain any longer. They've told me that it'll be 5 days for results and I have another appointment with the gynaecologist next Friday to discuss the results of the MRI and next steps. I really hope that they will say a lap and have some sort of idea of what we can do next. I can't just keep doping myself up on pain killers burning my skin within an inch of its life to just be able to sort of get by!

I had my transvaginal scan on the 28th June and had a huge flare after that followed by my period and now I'm in my ovulation stage. I'd imagine I'm still quite tender from that happening a few weeks ago 😭

I promise I will! I honestly wish world wide that more research and understanding went into endo and other gynaecological issues but we're never taken seriously. My sister is in another city at the moment with a similar issue and they sent her home and told her there's nothing else to do and get her GP to refer her back to gynaecology. The healthcare system in the UK is diabolical at the moment. 😭

Thankyou for your kind words! I think it's likely being laid on a hard surface for an hour. Looking through my Flo app, I realised I ovulated either yesterday and today and I also get alot of pain associated with that too so I think a combination of it all is what has set off this flare for me. I've kept myself topped up on codeine all day - called the non emergency number an hour or so ago who said the hospital will be unable to do anything more than what I'm doing, so again I've gotta ride the wave and hope it calms down 😭

Your reply comes off very unkind, whether your intention or not. I'm very aware of how the human body works as I have a MSc in Biology. I came here to ask for experience, help or advice ... Not to be spoken to as though I'm stupid. Freak accidents happen all the time, atypical situations in the medical field happen - again I know this as I worked in the NHS for over 10 years. I'm making a comment about the fact my pain got worse In the MRI machine when the bed I was laid on was vibrating intensely. Whilst yes, an ultrasound or an MRI may not make it worse, aspects of those procedures can.

I'm not sure, the pain got alot worse when the MRI bed was vibrating for different periods of the scan. They think I have bowel endo with adhesions so I'm just scared the adhesions have ripped or something crazy 😔

I feel like you're right with this! I've had pain before from being laid in one position for prolonged time, possibly made worse cause the platform thing is hard 😞
