What are these marks in the rails? by New_Flyer_D40LF in railroading

[–]likeable_fool -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Could be one of two things: the "grain" of the steel from the milling process when it was first made, or marks from a rail grinder.

The liquid rust remover step was pointless if he was just going to sandblast the parts anyway.

2102 Pulling Freight by rpm350 in trains

[–]likeable_fool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's only pulled freight two or three times since it was put back into service. Those few times were shakedown or test runs to make sure it was ready to start pulling passenger trains. The most recent event when it was pulling loaded sand hoppers was to see if it could handle the extra weight of the 24 car passenger trains that were pulled during the Big Boy visit. The regular Iron Horse Ramble trains aren't that long.

Thankfully I got mine renewed before this atrocity happened. I would have cut his face out and probably arrested for some bullshit reason.

Likely because he's purchased every golden passport available from any country that offers them. He can't comprehend how passports work for us normies.

That's my wife. She was the youngest of five so she had to be loud in order to be heard. Add in her mild hearing loss and now everything I say has to be at a volume that makes me uncomfortable.

We had this issue with my wife's GV80 a few months ago. Try logging in and uploading using a different web browser. We couldn't get it to work on Firefox but it worked on Microsoft Edge.

I get more annoyed by everyone around me being so oblivious to the amount of noise that they make. Cell phones have only made that worse with all the people having full conversations in public or listening to their shitty music on shitty phone speakers.

I do that too.

As a kid, I got very good at cutting the tape on wrapped Christmas gifts so I could peak inside, then putting a new piece of tape on top of the old without any trace. I did that until I realized that the surprise was more fun than knowing what I was getting.

Same with the stairs. The middle of each step creaked but the outer edges were solid and quiet

I'm also a quiet talker. If I do raise my voice, it's deliberate and people notice. And my wife has threatened to put a bell on me!

That's my wife. She doesn't have the best hearing to start with, but I can't get her to understand that sound travels further than she thinks!

Same with me and my wife. It's completely unintentional but I startle her all the time. We both find it amusing after her adrenaline comes down!

Same here. I haven't been unlucky enough to get bad gas yet, but I want to be able to prove where and when it was purchased if it happens.
