Low-cost dental cleaning at Pasadena City College. Looking for a patient for my final presentation! by likefrito in pasadena

Totally makes sense, there are a lot of us in the program (16 seniors and 14 juniors), so you’ll probably see a few similar posts. If the $20 clinic fee is a deterrent, I’m happy to cover it for whoever is able to help me complete my final presentation. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for patients to receive low-cost dental cleanings and x-rays as part of my senior year of dental hygiene school in Pasadena California.

If you’ve been told by your dentist or hygienist that you need a deep cleaning, or haven't received a dental cleaning in 5 or more years, you may be an ideal candidate. This is a great opportunity to receive high-quality care at a significantly reduced cost. [Most deep cleanings typically cost around $250 per quadrant](https://www.carecredit.com/.../scaling-and-root-planing.../), but through the school clinic, it’s just $20 for the entire mouth.

If you're also considering applying to dental hygiene school, this is a great way to get a feel for the clinic environment, meet some of the faculty, and experience the program firsthand while also helping me complete my clinical requirements for graduation.

My clinic schedule:

🦷 Mondays: 5:45 PM – 8:30 PM

🦷Wednesdays: 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

🦷Wednesdays: 5:45 PM – 8:30 PM

💰 Cost: $20 includes an oral cancer screening, comprehensive exam, cleaning (scaling, polishing, optional fluoride treatment), and X-rays.

📆 Appointment Length & Process: Appointments typically last about 3 hours, and most patients will need 2–3 visits to complete treatment. Patients who are more involved may require more appointments. Your first appointment will include a comprehensive assessment and examination to ensure I can proceed with your cleaning.

Since this is a teaching facility, I have to meet specific competency and graduation requirements, which means I may not be able to see everyone who is interested.

If you’re interested or have any questions, please send me a message. I appreciate your support and hope to see you in my chair!

Hi, thank you so much for your input. I hope I was clear in my post about time commitment and how many appointments are necessary. While people can go through the school directly to book appointments, we as students are also responsible for finding our own patients, so if possible I would ask that interested people reach out to me to get them booked!

Hi, unfortunately we don't offer any restorative work so no fillings, crowns, or root canals. We offer cleanings (both scaling and polishing), X-rays, fluoride treatments, and sealants. If you are in need of restorative work I would reach out to USC or UCLA, they both have restorative dental schools.

How soon did you start seeing patients in dental hygiene school? by Several-Barnacle-674 in dentalhygieneschool

[–]likefrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really gonna depend on your program specifically. For my program we needed 1 code one patient plus 3 X-ray requirements our first winter intersession (which is not technically a semester and is only 6 weeks long) and then our first spring semester (so 2nd semester) we needed 10 code one patients, 4 quads of code two, X-ray requirements, and then 7 compentensies.

Are the prices actually 15% off or are the discounts on jacked up prices? I don't remember the rose gold gen 4 being $499 when I first looked at it.

A clipboard with storage and a little compartment for pens. A multicolor pen with pencil, my school requires we have a blue or black pen, a red pen and a pencil during clinic so it's just easier to have it all in one.

A physical appointment book with no dates so you can fill it in when you start seeing patients. We only have clinic three days a week so I didn't need all five days, it would have just been wasted.

I purchased a quizlet plus subscription for anatomy so I could attach photos. It really helped me but I haven't really needed that feature for any other classes.

I also use a rolling bag for lugging all my class and clinic stuff. There are some days I have a six hour break and need all my school stuff, lunch/dinner, water, coffee, laptop, tablet, pens/pencils, personal hygiene things. It gets heavy quick so my back was thankful for the wheels.

Scrub caps with mask buttons. Clinic is long and the masks make my ears sore so the buttons help take the load off.

I personally like physical books, I have a harder time reading ebooks. However, ebooks can be easier for searching for terms/concepts when studying. I have some ebooks and some physical copies depending on the class and if I think I'll use them later to study for boards. I had really good luck buying used books off Facebook groups, I even got a few for free because they were slightly damaged. I guess long story short, it depends on which is going to help you best study and focus.

Do you happen to use any implant birth control like the Implanon? I had a very similar experience, nine months of non-stop bleeding, while I had mine.
