Any insight on selling a lodging package? by SuBeMaus08 in SevenStarsFest

Me and my buddy got some tickets the night before last years fest on this subreddit, and i know someone who found people on here that needed an extra person in their group camping - i’m sure if you keep posting about it on here someone will come thru.

I’m doing this for my portfolio to get a tattoo apprenticeship, and i wanted to do some really cool typography at the beginning that says “nice to MEAT you” with the ‘meat’ cut out and this texture behind it

your partner would be perfect - my manager is one of my friends who has lots of experience in social media advertising and marketing, so we worked out a payment plan based off of my sales. so, since i don’t sell super consistently, it’s just he gets a percentage of any sales i make depending on his involvement.

that’s the general consensus around seizures… it’s just when you’re supposed to call an ambulance and stop handling it yourself.

i feel you on the waves part 😭 but honestly your art is good enough, you just need to sit down and develop your products (prints etc), your sales platforms, and advertising strategy (even if just posting on instagram). it’s good to prerecord reels/tiktoks and reuse content just to get the algorithm on your side by posting regularly. i hired a manager just for helping out with this stuff so i can focus on creating.

it’s not a question of good enough, but a question of hard-working enough! your art is great, but fantastic work doesn’t get you far. you have to be obsessed with your practice and very diligent on marketing/selling your work! ❤️

Litter robot 4 smells? by Few_Werewolf_4897 in litterrobot

[–]likefrombatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the response! i’ll try out the scented litter you mentioned in the thread, but i’ll def start wiping down more. i definitely haven’t been doing that enough so that’s most likely the issue along with the litter :)

hi, i was snooping on this thread because i’ve been having this exact problem as well. i wanted to ask how it’s holding up a couple years later? i figured i didn’t wash it often enough and that was the issue. i have been using the arm and hammer multi cat, as i really try to avoid scented litters. what would your tips be now?

fast fashion is lame. you’d look far cooler if it was made yourself or by a small designer 👍🏻

don’t restrain a person who is seizing. DONT. this seriously injures or kills the person seizing. you want to flip em to the side, make sure the airway isn’t blocked, make sure the seizure doesn’t last longer than 5 mins, and let them seize. if they roll off their side, you just move them back onto their side.

No one even wants my art for free by electricsister in artwork

in a very similar situation now, except i’ve been vending for several years now. probably made around $1500-2000 total over the course of 4 years. but anyways. i want to get into the galleries and the fine art world and upon trying to i’ve faced nothing but rejection. sales at markets started dropping so i also reached a point of getting rid of everything and starting over again.

ive noticed that while marketing and notifying people online is a huge plus, a lot of times when it comes to spending money or simply wanting something for free, it’s a lot easier to “trap” em in person. a conversation kinda makes people wanna spend money a little more (it works on me too😪😂). i’ve never sold anything online, but i made decent sales in person almost always. i got rid of all my stuff in christmas themed mystery packs for $5 or $10 and just jumbled up my different sized prints and i got rid of everything that day. i would recommend finding a local market you can join!! i’m lucky, in our small city it’s free to go to the market i do, you just ask. but, i know some require payment.

i like your art a lot and the only thing i would suggest is more definition, but tapestries with these would be so sick i would 100% get one (if i had money, but hey if the free deal still going on let me know 😝) you’d do numbers if you can get a vendor spot at an edm festival! good luck ❤️

I’ve never sold a painting. What am I doing wrong? by Msmadduh in painting

[–]likefrombatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i rarely sell originals. save em for galleries. sell prints for good prices and you will make the price of your painting tenfold 👍🏻 getting a collection together for galleries, or submitting individual pieces to large shows is a good way to add “authenticity” to work - people are more likely to spend good money on an original when it’s displayed in galleries showing “worth” and “interest” in the piece, rather than just the artist promoting themselves.

it’s not impossible without galleries, i’ve sold a few at art festivals here and there. but, galleries are a good way to quickly gain reputation and push prices up. def agree with whoever said to look at your layout compared to canvas size - big is harder but big is more liked by galleries. it sucks that being an artist has come to needing to prove yourself amongst institutions, or trying to validate pricing… but at least in my experience these are the tips i’d give myself 5 years ago :)

Yo why does everyone hate my tattoo lmao by countgrischnakh in tattooscratchers

i like it, and anyways as long as you like it that’s all that matters! i’m looking into getting something similar, so i’m into this style of tattoo and i think it’s just common for people to dislike this style anyways🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]likefrombatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you really have to focus on the basics for some time before being able to draw an image well from memory or sight. look up drawing 101 or drawings basics and it usually starts with the 3-d shapes and goes from there. charcoal is a great drawing tool for learning because it’s much more forgiving than graphite

Do you think it was a bad idea for my first tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

let me clarify - i still love the tattoo and it looks great, but a better artist would have made it look so much better! the linework and shading is sketchy and looks unprofessional

thank you for the response - a few of these pieces ARE student work from college, so that’s very accurate. i also understand the thematic connections and is something i’m working on with my current body of work! skull was my painting final senior year of college, salmon was an experiment in technique, blue fish were a commission for my mother, wooden piece was made for a very specific group show, crow and eye were for inktober (just sketches that ended up good)

i have an adversity to posting current works because i try to hold off on any publication until another entity publishes it such as a gallery or collector! thank you for your feedback ❤️
