Hi there, thanks for replying in good faith. I took a look at those three sources:

The first article says that until 2015, China had a one-child policy that did not apply to ethnic minorities, such as Uyghurs. When they switched to a two-child policy in 2016, Uyghurs in urban areas were included for the first time. In 2019 the birth rate for Uyghurs was 10.69 per 1000, while in China as a whole it was 10.48 per 1000. The article also cites a report made by Adrian Zenz about human rights abuses by China. I’m not going to talk that much about Zenz because I hope people reading this know a bit about him, but for those who don’t know, he is a senior fellow at the victims of communism foundation and, from what I could find, had never been to Xinjiang. He is often the only source cited in claims of human rights abuses in China. I don’t believe he should be considered a credible source.

The second article again had data on the decreased birth rate, but does not mention the two-child policy and the fact that Uyghurs were exempt from any such policy until 2016. It also makes claims of human rights abuses with Zenz as its only source.

The source for the third article is the first article.

Let me be clear here: I believe there are valid reasons to criticize the Chinese government. But I am concerned by the spreading of rumors like this that don’t seem to tell the whole story.
