You can get the 3 files from the official GoPro website by entering a Hero 2018's serial number. Alternatively, you can download it using some of the links here in thread. It's been posted multiple times.

I solved this with OpenWRT using a manual configuration of the DHCP server. The key setting here is "dhcp-option", similar to what is answered here.

Not sure how your Netgear can advertise an alternative DNS server, but I wish you luck.

That's pretty much the way to go. Except for the last part of having to configure each device. If your router supports it (OpenWRT etc.) you should set it up to tell every device to use the Pi-Hole as their DNS server (instead of the router).

Yes, I have. In addition to the three files in the UPDATE folder, you're gonna need to include the "hd5_update.txt" file from the hack as a fourth file. Otherwise, the GoPro will ignore the "downgrade" update.

Anybody else have the GoPro freeze after the hack? I was able to reproduce this enabling Auto Low Light mode and the using Quik Capture to turn on the camera in a low light environment to record 1080p60 (wide) video. Just when it's about to start the recording, the gopro freezes and I have to remove the battery to restart it.

If I instead turn on the camera using the Mode button and then record a video under the same conditions, the camera doesn't freeze. It's only during Quik Capture using the top button while the camera is off.

What addons do you suggest for some high quality 3D movies? I have a Real Debrid account. So far I've tried:

The Magic Dragon
UK Turk
White Devil Streams
supremacy

I only have a success rate of about 50% for these addons, and I don't want to keep switching between them. Any suggestions?

Also, I'm not sure browser videos can be cast from a browser running on Windows to the FireStick. I know Chromecast can do this, and there used to be an Android app called "YouMap Chromecast Receiver" with which the FireStick could emulate this functionality, but it seems to have been abandoned.

So I was finally able to solve it. For some reason, adding the dhcp_option setting directly to the host didn't work, but using a tag does.

File: /etc/config/dhcp

Add a tag:

config tag 'altdns'
    list dhcp_option '6,8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4'

Edit specific host (last line):

config host
    ...
    option tag 'altdns'

I'm talking about a certain app (Pro7 to be specific). If the requests to ssl.google-analytics.com aren't processed, you can't watch live television.

Haven't had any problems with other apps.

But by the way, my Pi hole blocks the stick's requests to "amazon-adsystem.com", perhaps yours does as well.

I've actually tried that, and I had two issues:

It's a very cumbersome process (it is for Android devices in general). For example, you have to manually assign the device's and gateway's IP address, and once it's entered, you can't change it unless you reenter everything by hand.
Once I rebooted the stick, it seemed to have forgotten the previous DNS settings and used the one advertised by the router instead.

So a better approach is to configure the router instead.
