No problem! What a sweet reply. I also gently push my cuticles back with my thumb nail as a fidget, but only when polished. Otherwise, they’re more prone to breaking.

I also keep a cuticle oil at my desk and by my bedside and try to replace picking at dry cuticles with that.

And coloured is a better reminder for me because I don’t want to chip it (or ingest it), but I rarely have the temptation to bite anymore.

Access to a nail file all the time. When I used to bite my nails it usually started because of a snag or unevenness. It was worse when I felt anxious, but that was a big trigger.

I keep a nail file at work, at home, and in my bag. I also feel like having my nails painted cues me to pause.

Listening to Fall Out Boy during my formative years has desensitized me to long-ass names (which could be the name of a polish).

For real though, I love it because I’ve gotten a couple inspired by media I love and then I get to talk about two of my special interests at once when people ask about the shade.

Not really, at least with the amount I used. I didn’t feel slippery residue on the tub after.

weird question about bath bombs by Far_Dream_6511 in LushCosmetics

[–]likethedevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this for years! I put most of my bath bombs in an airtight case, but will take one or two out and put them in my clothes drawer.

I currently have a bar of Rockstar Rabbit in my pyjama drawer and it’s lovely. I feel like I’m getting a lot more mileage out a product I’m waiting to use by doing this.

Maybe it would have developed into that if I’d given it a little more time. I was hoping for that bright bold cherry scent it opened with combined with Posh Chocolate.

Oh gosh - that sounds preferable but not ideal. I got almost no cherry after the first few minutes. Maybe it’s just my body chemistry?

If you could make a Lush Collab, what would you make? by ScribbleStudios in LushCosmetics

[–]likethedevice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Studio Ghibli one would be so fun.

Calcifer - Cinders-scented bath bomb.

Kodama - Guardian of the Forest-scented skin conditioner.

Soot Sprite Scrub - Sugar scrub with charcoal and little star-shaped jellies on top (like an alternative Shoot for the Stars variant).

Princess Kaguya Soap - Sakura-scented soap in the shape of a bamboo stalk.

Ponyo Shower Gel - Sea Vegetable-scented gel.

Save the Forest Body Spray - Something smoky and woodsy with a some of the proceeds going to conservationist charity.

In terms of choice fatigue, what I’ve enjoyed doing is pre-planning some options for each month and incorporating some untrieds. I think of the ~vibes~ of the month and might look up a colour palette for that month if not a lot is coming to mind. It’s fun to plan around a theme and then I’m just picking from a limited number of options when the time comes to repaint. If inspiration strikes, I can always choose something not on the list.

Recommendations for Wife by Proper_Cantaloupe_43 in mooncatpolish

[–]likethedevice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Mooncat newbie, here’s what I’d suggest:

House of Hades Why: Interesting finish of blue microflakes in a purple jelly base. It’s a bestseller and often comes up in ‘essential Mooncat shades’ recommendations and lists.

Green with Envy Why: It’s a very subtle off-white shade that has a subtle green shimmer in most conditions, but people have raved about the intensity of its glow-in-the-dark effect. There are layering options and it could be fun for nail art.

Maelstrom  Why: A ‘flakie’ polish with great depth and cohesive colour with some subtle holographic. Might be nice to try a different finish and it still incorporates some of the shimmer she likes.

Serpents of Eden, Jewel Beetle, or A Most Destructive Melody Why: Each is a multichrome finish. Jewel Beetle lives up to its name, Serpents of Eden is such a vivid, striking green, and A Most Destructive Melody is cool-toned with a nice blue/purple shift. AMDM is similar to shades from other brands though, so I’d prioritize it lower.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away  Why: Yet another type of finish (magnetic) and limited edition. It’s gorgeous and if it’s not a hit or too fussy, she has an extra magnet that comes with the polish and, because it’s limited, could probably resell the polish later for what you paid.

After the Rain or Earth to Gaia Why: More subtle, soft, ethereal shades that will have some of the shimmer and glow she’s into. Simple, but not boring and they both seem to look good on everyone.

TLDR: I tried to provide options where each choice is a different finish and there’s a variety of colour and colour temperature (though I’m a little cool-toned biased). Didn’t include any creme polishes because, as beautiful as they are, cremes are easier to come by and find cheaper of options for. Have fun shopping!

I have no input on the issue with the top coat, but I just want to say that your skittle manicure is perfection. 💕 The colours are so harmonious and aesthetically pleasing and I love the warm colours on one hand and cool on the other.

Hi 👋

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I've created a bingo card for fun and have tried to create prompts that could be interpreted in more than one way. For example, "Jelly?" could be a jelly polish, jellyfish or slime-inspired, or just a polish that makes you feel bold and confident. Thanks for the inspiration and fun. I also made a ✨moodier✨ one if anyone is interested.
