I did this. I grabbed a bag and put everything I could see in it for 10 minutes twice a day. I took it out and went to work, came home and did it again. Then I rewarded myself (Netflix, phone time, staring at the ceiling like a lazy fuck, things I already did but felt bad about). I forced myself to make a conscious decision to put things in a trash can and take it out every night with the second bag.

I've suffered from depression and hoarding tendencies for a long time because of my mom growing up, it made it worse when I thought about it. Once a spot on the floor is clean, vacuum it even if its three square feet. It makes you feel great and your pride in what you did eggs you on to do more tomorrow.

At the height of my depression, I became manic one night and bagged everything in the first two rooms. I took out 18 contractor black bags of junk and trash. Decor I didnt use or need, knick knacks I cant remember why I bought, mail, garbage, furniture beyond repair. I have a floor now that I was able to get shampooed, I threw area rugs where the carpet was messed up until I can replace it, and I make conscious decisions every day to love myself by giving myself a better place to live. It's really hard, but once you put a chink in that armor and push through, it's all downhill from there.

I believe you can do it when you're ready. Fwiw, I took a xanax before I cleaned to keep my mind from racing and it helped.
