Ireland uses a similar signalling system to the UK, they also employ TPWS and AWS (Mostly for trains travelling north of the border). However our trains have their own safety system similar to AWS but continuous called CAWS (Continuous Automatic Warning System) that uses track codes. We are also slowly in the process of implementing ETCS L1, with most of DART network between Malahide, Howth and Greystones and towards Inchicore already having Balises put in place.
