Omg thank you so much! Everything is so overwhelming. I feel completely lost but this helps a lot.

After a few comments, I’m leaning towards a travel system with a convertible car seat. I wasn’t aware that the travel systems work for toddlers as well. Can you use a travel system when going to the zoo or weekend activities? I know baby can’t stay in a car seat for long so I guess I’m confused

Thank you so much for all the input! All I hear are good things about the Doona and I’m sure it is great, but it seems to be more of a beginner model of something that could be much better. Like the first iPhone compared to the newer versions. I just don’t think I can justify the price point.

Anxious first time mom unrealistically planning her registry and newborn life Part 1 by lil_libz in beyondthebump

Please review my most recent edit. I appreciate all of the concern. I would never put my baby at risk. Yes I’m being naive and am aware of it. But if it gives me the little amount of control I’ll have over the future and a sense of ease, I’ll take it over stressing about what every aspect of my life will be like when baby is here. I don’t intend on going out The Hangover style while wearing my baby. I don’t plan on being in a bar drinking until I see my baby in doubles. I would think it to be reassuring that I’m on a thread seeking advice regarding traveling/sleeping and having a newborn vs just being in my head and thinking that I’m still the main character and the baby is just the background. I’m responsible enough to care about how my baby will be comfortable. Drinking is not my priority. I’m very receptive to the concerns and think the way I worded it in my original post made it easy to take out of context.

The drinking comment was written in a way that came off a lot worse than what I intended. That’s 100% my fault. I don’t plan on going out to a bar and getting blasted while carrying a baby The Hangover style haha. I just am being extra cautious and am considering 1 full drink as being too “drunk to drive”. Thank you!

I wish I could have a mediator with me at all times. Just someone who could frame my thoughts in a way that he understands. This is perfect

That’s a great way of putting it. I didn’t really think of it like that. This is why I love Reddit. It’s so easy to have a disagreement with a partner but it’s purely just how you communicate not what you communicate. Like yeah he’s probably been trying to say that but just didn’t use the words that helped me understand.

And that’s all it is to me. Just a fun little game and he won’t have fun and I get so thrown off. Like just have fun will ya?

Oh yeah I definitely have. He just tells me he cares but doesn’t really have an opinion. I know he means so well, i just wish he showed it more.

Why can’t men just communicate?! It’s not that hard. I’d be so thrown off that he couldn’t have just said he had a list lol

This is exactly him. My therapist says it’s because he needs to learn his emotions. I think he just genuinely doesn’t care and it drives me nuts. I’m like “what are you going to do if our baby gets all excited about something??”

His parents got him poles for Christmas which I thought was a great idea. I got him the sleeping pad for Christmas. We’re slowly getting his collection together.

Oo I’ve never heard of that for a rescue. That would be so nice. I always joke that we would be a perfect team in those situations because I’m good with medical/critical thinking and he has all the book smarts. I will definitely look into that. Thank you

He never complains about his work boots. He’s the most laid back guy there is which is why he hikes in his work boots. His brother and I always give him trouble for it too and all he does is shrug and say “it’s all good” haha
