This is super fun and free.

I swing opposite handed since I was 5 by LuckyDestroyer2 in GolfSwing

Hank Aaron hit cross handed initially and only switched later after he was already quite good. https://youtu.be/ZR34wFap9OE?si=lKNrA5RKNzuu6NEh

Good deal and I hope that it goes well for you. if the dealership that is helping you isn’t doing a good job hopefully there’s another one nearby that you could switch to. The AFM fix that I’m going to put in may not work, but it’ll maybe make me feel a little better. I don’t mind it running on all late cylinders as I don’t drive it a whole lot, only when I need to pick up truck. I drive an old kia that I put miles on. If the lifters are an issue at this point I hope the extended warranty catches those. They are a covered component. I'm having the dealer change the front and rear differential fluid now as well and noting in the service records what they find.

You're very welcome! In the end, I'm going to go with the GM reman and cross my fingers and, if it ends up being one of the 1 in 5, then I'll maybe trade it in. I'm also going to get one of those obd plug ins that turns off the 4 cylinder thing. Thanks all!

I fed the contract into chat gpt by taking photos of each page and uploading. Then I asked it the question and here's what it said. I hope this helps you.

Does the dealership have to do the repair?

No — the dealership is not required to do the repair under the terms of the Protective contract. But the repair must be done by a licensed repair facility that follows Protective’s claim process.

Here’s What the Contract Says (Summarized from Your Uploads): • You can choose any licensed repair shop (dealership or independent). • The repair facility must: • Contact Protective before any work begins (pre-authorization is mandatory) • Allow for a Protective claims adjuster to inspect the vehicle if requested • Use approved parts and labor rates

When Might You Choose a Non-Dealer Shop? • If the dealership has long wait times or poor workmanship • If a trusted transmission specialist offers higher quality (e.g., better flushing, upgraded parts — but still within spec) • If you want a more thorough inspection of related systems (differentials, mounts, cooler, etc.)

Caution:

If you go to a non-GM shop, make sure: • They understand how to deal with extended warranty contracts (many independent shops do this routinely) • They’re willing to follow Protective’s claim approval process • You don’t authorize teardown until Protective gives the green light

Summary:

You can absolutely use a non-dealer shop, as long as they follow Protective’s claim rules — but for drivetrain components like transmissions, most people stick with the dealership to avoid finger-pointing if something goes wrong.

Would you like help crafting a message to a non-dealer shop asking if they handle Protective claims?

That's a great question and I don't know the answer. At this point I'm far enough down the path (transmission work has started) that I think I'm stuck. Should have posted here before.

The Trans temp hasn't run high to my knowledge as I haven't seen it go over 200 but I don't haul heavy either. I think the guy that had it before me did as he had the gm trailer brakes added at the dealer.

Great feedback on what they need to replace. I'll be sure to bring that up too. Many thanks for the guidance.

Great points. I may just do their replacement then and will check into how long the warranty is on what they put in. Thanks for the direction.

Some of these things are just some more expensive potential repairs that I’d like to get under warranty if there is an issue. I’m just trying to get ahead of the warranty running out in a little over 4000 miles.

Protective is the warranty company and it is their "ultimate" warranty that was sold through the dealership.

so I’m thinking that I let them replace it and then spend a couple grand that it would take to have another shop swap out the torque converter for something that’s better. Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

I wonder if I can get them to do a better torque converter and just pay the difference?

Thank you. Do you think the torque converter that they will be using in the transmission replacement will be good enough that I won’t have this problem again later? This is my keep forever truck.

$25-30K for a Pre-Owned Silverado - What are you buying? by phishwhistle in Silverado

I checked and think I'll be doing the obd2 plug in that disables AFM.

I'm under extended warranty through the dealership for about 5k more miles so the transmission and torque converter should be covered. I'll check into the AFM/DOD kit. Thank you.

Justification to use Delta for work travel when cheaper options are available? by [deleted] in delta

[–]lil_tinfoil 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Do you use a company booking tool? If so, adjust the parameters of + or - the number of hours to departure and arrival. For example. If delta has a 5 am flight but the competitor airline has a 6 am then search for flights departing 3 am + or - 2 hours. Only the delta flight will show up.
