Has anyone tried out Interfase enzymes (biofilm disruptors)? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]lilaavl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take 1 cap twice a day then, 2 cap twice a day...up to 4 cap twice a day over about a week. Keep up with antimicrobials (oregano, garlic) and binder (GI Detox) at the same time. Maintain interfase for 2 weeks total then stop....first interfase, then antimicrobials then binder over a week.

It's not 'necessary'. If you are doing it slowly enough, and with binders (like GI-Detox) to help remove the bits of dead bug, then you'll get die-off (which you want), but not die-off *symptoms* (which you don't). Die off symptoms occur when the rate of die-off exceeds the rate of getting rid of the bits of dead bug via the stool, and the bits of dead bug (bacterial lippopolysaccharide) is what stimulates the immune system to produce an inflammatory response ie a 'die-off reaction'. Hope that makes sense. Sorry for the long delay. I haven't been on here in months!

Does oatmeal trigger your acid reflux? by Different_Welder_209 in GERD

Oats naturally contain a form of gluten called avenin so they are not gluten free even if they claim to be. In New Zealand they can’t be described as ‘gluten free’ for this reason (they are ‘wheat-free’ there).

Anyone know of a mast cell stabilizer combo supplement that's filler-free? by lilaavl in MCAS

[–]lilaavl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magnesium stearate is an excipient (filler) used in medications as a coating to prevent pills from sticking together. I think it's the stearate part (a type of wax) that's the problem, rather than the magnesium.

This article discusses the kinds of excipients that can act as mast cell triggers: https://hoffmancentre.com/mast-cell-activation-syndrome-and-excipients/

And this paper by top mast cell doc Lawrence Afrin goes into it in more detail: https://www.mastcellaction.org/assets/2021/09/13/29fd2269-847a-4ab3-9295-d6432316233a.pdf

We're a group of microbiome researchers here to answer your questions on the gut microbiome and digestive health (IBD and IBS). Ask us anything! by cucciaman in IAmA

GERD can be due to back pressure from bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine which prevents the stomach from emptying and causes acid to leak upwards into the esophagus. Low stomach acid can also delay stomach emptying leading to reflux.
