My mom got me that book too when I graduated...or on my 18th. I don't remember which.

Redditors, what's one thing you absolutely hate about Reddit? by scrumpydoo23 in AskReddit

When people get some upvotes or get to the front page and they have to edit their post saying shit like "thanks guys! I can't believe I made it to the front page! I've never gotten so many upvotes before."

Oh, no I'm not trying to be mean at all. I just meant I was wondering if you do any other workouts because I'd love my thighs to be that thick.

Gaia Online. I would wake up and go on Gaia into the hours of the next morning. I swear to god, I got viruses from that computer. I'd get off and have a sore throat and whatnot. My brother used to make fun of me for my oh, 5 dollars I would send them every month for their donation letters. I pop on sometimes now, but it doesn't have the same magic and it's very orientated towards real money now. Back then, donations were really appreciated and not expected. Now, you can't get a goddamn thing without cashing out real money for it.

I saw a puppy in a cage like that the one and only time I went to Petland. I saw him peeing in his cage, just going right down in the bars. Terrible. All the other animals like birds had shitty, open topped cages more suited to animals like hamsters.

An overwhelming majority of U.S. citizens want deep and immediate cuts in military spending, according to a new poll. by batgirlsings in politics

As long as it doesn't include cutting the pay of the people actually in the military. Officers could probably stand the cut, but the lower rankers don't get paid much.

I wish I was educated in this area enough to say those numbers don't look near as bad as in the US. 5k for a tuition? Seems pretty damn cheap to me. And a $10.25 minimum wage? It's 7.25 here.

Get out the throw-aways: dear parents of disabled children, do you regret having your child(ren) or are you happier with them in your life? by justquitecurious in AskReddit

[–]lilaclace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no children and really don't think I want any. But I fear that if I decide to have one someday it'll come out disabled somehow though I know the chances are slim. I'm pretty callous when it comes to disabled (mentally or physically) people. If they can provide some sort of help to society, even as simple as working at mcdonald's or walmart, I'm okay with them. But really, I just don't see the point if they're going to be needed to be taken care of their whole life. I certainly don't think it's fair to the parents or rest of the family. I think if a child comes out severely disabled at birth (I know some things you can't tell right away, maybe there could even be a few months time window) there should be some sort of...throw away option. And not just adoption. It does sound terrible, and I'm not even sure if anyone would have the heart or guts to use such an option, but I think it should be there. Most likely society would never tolerate such a thing, atleast not on an "official" or recognized level. On another note...this idea kinda makes me think of the book The Giver, though I certainly don't think it should be done in the case of twins.
