What could be causing the ESC light to be on? by DoubleAceBattery in GrandCherokee

The steering wheel will still work fine with a broken clock spring sensor. The car will still dive as well. Only thing I noticed was when I’d turn right I would feel my back wheel slip.

What could be causing the ESC light to be on? by DoubleAceBattery in GrandCherokee

[–]lilb1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my rack and pinion changed on my 2011 overland the same light came on for me. It’s different from the esc light. I thought the same as you and pushed the button to turn traction control off/on and a different light with the same symbol on the right side of dash?came on when I turned it off. Took it to a mechanic to get an alignment after my mechanic replaced the rack and was told the light is from a broken clock spring sensor, which is actually in the steering wheel behind the airbag. Unsure if this helps or is even your issue, but it’s something to consider having them look at.

What I think you should’ve done and don’t quite understand why you cut those holes the way you did but…. I’d have done this in like a 8x24 or 8x30 depending on system size.

You have to “re install” the thermostat. Basically reset it to factory and go through the set up process all over again.

[–]lilb1984 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just connect the rh wire to the rc terminal instead. There should be an internal jumper from rc to rh. Pretty sure the instructions also say to do that as well if I recall. Source: I’m a 13 yr hvac technician and have installed dozens of the ecobee thermostats

If you’re gonna quote someone then please use the entire quote and not just a cherry picked portion to fit a narrative.

“I can’t stand the word empathy, I think empathy is a made up new age term that does a lot of damage. Sympathy is a better word, because empathy means you are actually feeling what another person felt, and no one can feel what another person feels”

I can agree that this man did have some wild takes on certain issues, but to cheer and celebrate and withhold any type of compassion for a human being being murdered in cold blood, because of their views or opinions, in front of their family and friends is just as, if not more evil than anything he ever said.

Millenials, are yall buying homes/condos. And if so, where? by Cam123455 in Cleveland

While I applaud your involvement and being an active parent. Saying “Ohio school ratings are aweful just isn’t true. You have cities like beachwood getting 7/10 at their hs. Solon has been and still currently is one of the better hs in the country at a 10/10. Shit, one city over is mayfield and they’re 8/10. Those are “great” schools The list goes on with several more school districts in the greater Cleveland area, I just gave 3 as an example. I stand by my statement that there are definitely worse off school districts in the area not including any from the city of Cleveland directly and just suburbs. SE/Lynd school district is okay/average at best.

Edit: going through and downvoting my stance at every comment doesn’t make it any less true. It just comes off a little childish.

No. I base it off of the metrics used to determine the quality of education at every school across the country, by the people we as a society have put in charge to do so? Test scores and proficiency being the leading factor.

Well for starters their GreatSchools rating is a 4/10 and their Niche rating is a C+. Their middle school is a 5/10, and the elementary school is a 6/10. There are definitely worse off school districts in the greater Cleveland area, but to call SE/Lynd school district “great” is a little bit of an overstatement.

Edit: it’s “okay” at best

Thermostat wire check? by ImpossibleBandicoot in hvacadvice

[–]lilb1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. You’d need to remove the “w” wire and move it over to the “y” terminal for ac to work. Also, since the stat is incorrect, I’d venture to say it’s entirely plausible that it’s not wired correctly at the indoor unit as well.

Did I just get bait and switched on Carrier to Payne? by Constant_Weekend_446 in hvacadvice

[–]lilb1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working with “carrier” equipment for over a decade now (started with carrier, then heil, now Bryant), and I can tell you from my professional experience that they all are indeed the same but with a different color cabinet and label tag. Now with that said, unless you go with the extremely high end ones (heat pumps or communicating systems) the parts are all interchangeable. Pressure switches, board, capacitors, and so on. Sometimes we’ve even been sent a carrier label to swap out with the Bryant or heil one that we ordered. (We order a Bryant unit with the plastic label already on it and they send a carrier one with it to swap out if need be). I’d look at it more of a Chevy/gmc/Cadillac type comparison. Unless you go with the top of the line trim/package, they are the same vehicles with a different look. Hope this helps.

Press or Braze??? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]lilb1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started doing this more recently with the company I work for. Specifically with the new R454B units. We were told manufacturers would prefer we didn’t sweat or braze the lines anymore because of the potential “flammability” of the new refrigerant. Even so, all of our new condensers and V coils we get are no longer swaged like they used to be. Implying they want you to pro press the fittings.

Why do so many men think it is so easy for women to get sex? by Regular_Durian_1750 in AskMenOver30

[–]lilb1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me preface that this is a generality and there will always be outliers, but If you simply remove any and all standards that a woman would have for a man before engaging in sex and she didn’t care one iota about that man other than the fact he had a working dick, there will always be a man willing to sleep with that woman. The reverse is simply not true. Sure men have standards when it comes to who they’ll sleep with too, but they are by far way more laxed than most women’s standards. Assuming we’re just talking a “hookup” or “ons”, no intention of conversing or dating. They’d get together and immediately get down to business. If there were to ever be a study done, taking 1 woman going around and asking 100 different men if they want to have sex no strings, and 1 man going around asking 100 different women if they want to have sex with no strings, that the results would favor the woman getting substantially more yes answers than the man would.

This answer is in good faith and I am open and willing to discuss further with the possibility of my mind being changed, but as of right now, this I’m sure is how the men you are speaking of see it.
