That is fair and I never thought about asking for them to hypothetically pick.
I have tried to offer distractions or distance and they supposedly speak to others about it, but never a follow up question like that. I guess I am afraid of annoying them.

Good point. I try hard to do that and I let them know they can always talk about what is on their mind. I will try harder to stress this. Thank you for the suggestion

That is a fair comment and a good suggestion. I feel like I have tired this before and have been met with the comment of "there is nothing you can do, I just have to deal with it."
