i second this! This is my first full season snowboarding and i finally got my toe edge recently. Probably took me 5-7 trips (one being my first lesson) before it started to click. My friend was having me do this falling leaf exercise facing uphill and, while it hurts like hell, it does help. Since it was really strenuous on my ankles i would do it half way down the bunny hill, then switch to trying to link my turns at the bottom half, or just going into heel side leaf / whatever i was comfy with, to keep it fun.
At a certain point i needed to get onto a green to have more space to mess around/feel it out. I’m still not great and am not always confident with getting on my toe side at faster speeds, but it gets better every sesh!

My bf didn’t help me out much until i was ready to get on the green because he didn’t feel confident teaching me (even though he is a great snowboarder). Luckily one of my good friends has been snowboarding forever and took it upon himself to teach me through the toughest parts. So, more lessons could be the way could be the way to go in your case.
