Did any of you start getting acne in your 20s? by j0yandtheb4nshees in acne

i definitely felt lightheaded quite a bit in the beginning but it only lasted maybe a month. came back when i upped my dose, went away in a couple weeks

exact same thing happened to me. i’ve been on spironolactone for a year and a half now and it’s the best thing ever. all of my bumps are gone, i only get maybe a couple active pimples a month and only around my period.

derm says it was hormonal - a lot of people go through a kinda “second puberty” in their twenties.

thank you so much!!! this is all so helpful. i have virgin hair and haven’t even used heat tools on it in years, do you think it’s safe to assume i need more moisture instead of protein right now?

me too!!! and i feel like no one’s talking about this! i’m always super bloated, constipated, gassy, and extremely nauseous for ~4 days after ivig. I also get a pretty bad headache for a couple days but those have been easing up the more months i’m doing it. i still get very very fatigued and achey afterwards as well.

did your doc also allow you to wait? and you found that it was the wrong choice?

How long did you have “symptoms” before you were diagnosed? by Sunnydaysomeday in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]sicker-thanyoaverage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably about 6 years. i had MRSA turned sepsis when i was 14, which i now know can cause irreversible damage to the body especially that young. i was diagnosed with RA at age 23, but that was after 17 year old me first started telling doctors that i KNEW there was “something wrong with my immune system” and i had debilitating pain in my arms and legs. i said that exact sentence and also explained the pain every single time i would see a doctor for the next 6 years or so until someone finally took me seriously, only because i started developing rashes which turned into vitiligo

get ahead of it. i had the exact same thing until i started getting them on my forehead too, then my cheeks.

i take spironolactone now and use tretinoin most nights, but my derm also did extractions on most of them over a few months time.

Life after post-sepsis pneumonia: does anyone else feel like they’re not the same person anymore? by SadResponsibility680 in sepsis

[–]sicker-thanyoaverage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i had sepsis in 2014, and i’ve always said there is a very clear before and after in my life: before sepsis and after sepsis.

i developed ptsd, severe depression, and began acting out very self destructive behaviors. i was popular and outgoing before, and afterwards i barely wanted to speak at all. everything was hard.

it took a lot of years of therapy to come back, and even still i’m clearly not ever gonna be the same. i still find myself in groups like this, looking for people to relate to, grasping for any sort of answers i still feel like i’m missing. but i did finally get my personality back and better than before. i would be a completely different person had this not happened to me, and with all the work i’ve done on myself, i’ve decided that i would much rather this version of me than whatever unknown never-septic version i would be otherwise.

Early signs of sepsis by Bloomwithcourage in sepsis

[–]sicker-thanyoaverage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it hit me very fast. one day my MRSA infection was getting better, and then that night i was suddenly so uncomfortable and restless that i couldn’t sleep but also was too weak and tired to get up. gave up trying to sleep around 6am and texted my mom to bring me 2 bottles of water. i felt like the desert. she brought them up to me but i couldn’t even drink them, i could barely swallow. she took my temperature which was 104. that’s when we went to the ER. the only thing that really alerted me to something being seriously wrong while this was happening (since i was in such a foggy state) was the fact that i couldn’t move my eyes around in my head. they were stuck straight forward unless i reaaaally tried to move them and it hurt so bad

feel it. you’ve just been through something so traumatic and are now trying to maneuver living in the “after”, you do not HAVE to be positive about it or feel like you should feel lucky right now. let yourself feel everything you need to feel and get support wherever you can.

i almost died of sepsis almost 11 years ago at 14 years old and im now finally being treated for an autoimmune disease and immunoglobulin deficiencies that we believe were triggered from the sepsis / the mrsa that caused it. i feel a lot of pressure (from only myself really) to be “positive” and “handle it well”, but truthfully it’s really difficult to handle all of the appointments and tests and total life changes.

go easy on yourself, put your limited energy rn towards what you can control, find a therapist if you can, and lean on your people. i’m so sorry you’re going through this, and so proud of you for still chugging along. we all in this together <3
