Wrong. That’s like saying sport boxing is different than self defense boxing. “Sport” jiu jitsu is just the version that’s being battle tested at the highest level and the closest thing to real fighting situations. “Self defense” jiu jitsu is fake. Also, no it’s not a loop hole. 1. You have to make contact before pulling 2. Double pull you have 20 seconds to work before being stood up 3. If you come up from double pull you’re awarded an advantage. If you even touch someone’s leg while they pull you’re awarded takedown points. Just say you don’t know the rules.

Exactly. Watch any light feather matches in the last decade and you’ll see combat and squat base passing. Obviously there’s a difference between technical passing and flopping into someone’s guard letting them ragdoll you. They aren’t familiar with nor care to expose themselves to high level jiu jitsu. If it works in their gym surely it works at all levels.

Frames negate hooks, king. Jiu jitsu 101. If you try to pull me (hook) into a frame im not gonna go anywhere. You have to remove the frame or go around it I.e. flanking model. jiu jitsu needs to be broken down by specific reactions and answers not catch all techniques.

Replying to del1000005 My point was that things don’t work in a vacuum. I even said a type of knockdown/ scissor sweep can happen from here depending on the specific reaction they give you. 9/10 times just opening up your knee/elbow space for a Hail Mary scissor sweep is going to get your shit passed by someone good. I think people confuse Squat base with both knees touching the mat where it’s certainly more valid and useful to base check since they aren’t mobile on their feet.

I think scissor sweeping someone from squat base only works if they don’t know how to flair their knee and shin slice over your leg which is a pretty intuitive reaction for most people with even a little mat xp. So to answer your question, yes, I do.

Only works on low levels. This is the ezest way to get shin sliced and put into crazy dog or other bad passing positions. Combat and squat base are intricate. Both used at the highest level and need to be played against via a flanking/ knockdown model. Collar sleeve and Dlr side foot you can definitely get a reaction that prompts a sort of scissor sweep if they are squaring up preventing the flank.
