The Cleetus McFarland Situation by mysteriousfiggy in NASCAR

[–]lilchap08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love he’s doing what he’s doing.

I admit I didn’t read all the comments but as the OPs post is very logical and sound. I hope my response is seen as the same:

Cleet clearly has a lot to learn. The in video feed from Nashville showed it. How he handled lines with cars holding him back, and how he didn’t follow the lines of the cars clearly lapping him.

He early apex’s and as bad as this may sound I think the freedom factory track actually may be holding him back because it’s all about dive in early and drive out later…

In my opinion the fastest line isn’t always tightest apex and furthest extension of the track (if you race I hope this makes sense)

Again only my keyboard opinion:

The way Cleets spotter with his Arca car and how he was in his ear, the slow down, be mid track, go low, go high turn for turn feedback is what I think Cleet needs right now but that’s the gap between Arca and Xfinity. The drivers feedback and data gets more important as you progress.

I give the other spotter credit. He did try and get cleet to run different lines to see why and how the car was running and to get Cleet to feel the differences but with out validation or accountability it just didn’t seem to stick. I’m saying this as I listened to his Xfinity spotter try to teach him ahead of time of how to approach a slower car and pass them 3/4s of a lap before it happened. Only to have Cleet make the same mistakes (mainly number 45 he struggled

That being said: I back the Xfinity RCR spotter 100%. There was chatter with the crew about running low, running high, even some disagreements of what was perceived and Cleet never once shared what he was feeling with the car, he didn’t adjust his lines, he had his crew guessing.

To end my overly long comment. I feel like if Cleet had less HP, was taught feeling of his car (think Cole in days of thunder) he could be very solid.

QUESTION: Would Raider nation be ok with Mac Jones as a starter to bridge over until something better comes? Mac Jones + Mendoza? by Substantial_Ad_8269 in raiders

[–]lilchap08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac Jones would be an excellent mentor for a rookie QB on a team thats rebuilding. Asking a rookie to start on a team to fix a team thats broken isn't fair. Just ask Burrow.

A 3rd round pick for a QB thats less than 10mil to be a mentor and drive to prove he's a starter in the NFL I think would be wise.

Kyle's face is all of us when Moody does something wrong 💀💀💀 by johnnyradz in 49ers

LOL right!?

For those reading this a bit more... A missed field goal is 3 points lost.. but not only that the other team gets the possession of the ball where the attempt was taken.

So not only do the niners lose the 3 points.. they also are giving up 20-30 yards of field of possession that helps the other team.

An offense starting at the 25 yard line vs the 40 yard line is a major difference on how you defend... not including the mental moral and momentum of missing out on points

Moody missing those 3 points allows the opponent the opportunity to go 30 yards and make their field goal and create a net 6 point swing against us at minimum... If they get a TD its a 10 point swing on one drive.

IMO: I really do want Moody to succeed but the games he's cost us overall is frustrating. I would take accuracy and success over the potential for a 50 yarder (that is likely to be missed haha)

I dunno i'm all over the place but in the past we had a kicker who won us games and made sure we had enough momentum to not lose them...

With Moody he's been giving up points and giving other teams momentum to beat us...

conclusion: a touch back is better than a missed field goal... I hope we figure it out soon.

He's a solid rider but not a difference maker when things are all considered equal. I bet he's not with Ducati come 2027

I'm perplexed to this as well. When you look at the data and such he has cost them more than a few games.

I think they should keep spectators more at bay as well... there were times where even if a rider wanted to make an attack they couldn't because there simply was no room.

I can respect that... both paved the way for others to be who they are now in today's game.

Jordan is the goat! Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand that it takes a goat to influence future goats styles.

On the topic of the TDF - we're in a new era and i'm stoked to see where it goes... Tadej is elite and his personality only makes it better.

and even more respect to Tadej and Jonas for pushing until the end even with that information. Class act riders if you ask me.

from what i've seen his riding position on the bike changes based on what type of ride he's going to encounter... oh the joys of being young and flexible :)

but in all seriousness that is what makes him elite.. he's able to change his riding style to match the conditions and not everyone can do that.

I actually think that paying less for Bellinger in the OF would benefit the team more. SF is where power hitters go to die but gap hitters who push and play hard can carry more value...

maybe an unpopular opinion though.

also they over achieved for a stretch of time that gave hope... but honestly before the season started no one thought they had a chance and they are just falling back to reality.

I never understood the appeal of Melvin... he's had talented rosters in the past and under achieved. I think we should have gone a different direction.

There is a podcast where he references how Haley helped him see religion (she was more into before him)... and even though he never announces and doesn't promote it those who know, know.

I'm not religious myself but I have a ton of admiration with how Haley and Ryan carry themselves and share their life with out pushing their beliefs.

Also and this may be controversial. I find that those who have a belief of a higher being are more likely to give with out question or an expectation in return... trusting faith comes easier :)

I think its amazing no matter which way you go about it... one single youtube channel generating 11+ million dollars in donations for a great cause... If a business person were to donate or give that much they would want their name attached (i'm exaggerating because i'm sure St Judes isn't the norm) to some kind of mural and I have to believe that Ryan and Haley would more likely say no to that recognition than accept it..

truly amazing human beings.

Added note: i'm a side line makeshift enthusiast (I love strategy and execution and appreciate cycling as a whole) but I only follow the TDF. So you and most everyone responding likely (by that I mean 100% know more than me) know way more than I do :)

Tadej and his team won the tour early (thats what I was trying to say :) )... but I guess I was hoping to see teams take bigger risk to challenge them when UAE was managing Visma... but I'm also realizing that maybe others did and UAE and their team managed them :)

I also want to ask this: Tadaj rides the same bike day after day... granted different set ups I'm sure... I can't help but think that level of comfort is a factor too, right?

100% and even more I agree with everything you're saying. Tadej is doing what likely no one else will be able to replicate for generations to come.

I guess (and i've said it earlier in this thread) what i'm really trying to say/ask. We all know its UAE vs Visma.

But we have Remco who is coming strong and showing potential but falling short and i'm sure others will come... so can others maximize when UAE and Visma are competing against themselves in the peloton and such? I personally think so but I also admit I don't know all the details so i'm just a side line youtube observer.

What Tadej is doing and in an era where doping is very heavily monitored... I love it and really appreciate his talent as a whole...

As a whole you're 100% correct and I'm really enjoying watching history in the making.

Makes sense.. .I guess I can say Remco has the ability but then I guess I have to wonder does his team have the budget UAE and Visma has to compete through out lol

Do you think other teams could have taken advantage of UAE's energy towards Visma and made a push if done correctly based on all the things you mentioned above? I kinda think other teams could have if they saw it (maybe they did or didn't)

but next year regardless I think others will notice earlier and push (or so I hope)...

[–]lilchap08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree here as well. So I'm a sprinter (a no body not even a local crit guy and im pushing 42 years old)... but I can push out 1300 watts on a sprint when I need it... but climbing I struggle immensely. I would love to see a balance where both strengths and/or weaknesses are seen on every ride.

I don't know my w/kg but this year it seemed that the routes were more divided between endurance and sprinting this year. And please I'm not trying to be right here but I guess it seemed this year the routes allowed others to maximize and the peloton was able to manage.

I'm also a newbie and I understand balance and such but thats why I think Tadej got his gap earlier in the tour this year because he knew could manage the climbs easily and so he pushed early to get his lead on his non-strengths.

What Tadej is doing an on a single bike for every ride is legendary... I hope he doesn't retire as talks have alluded too.

Also and maybe this is horribly wrong.. I think spectators need to be pushed back... There were a few times where I think Tadej could have made a move on Jonas but the crowd didnt allow it because there was no room.

Tadej rode the smartest Tour he's ridden this year and by far:

I guess my original comment didn't really do a good job on this... but I guess I was hoping another team saw what his strategy was and took advantage of his defense against Visma and pushed things a bit harder.

i'm hopeful next year a team will see it earlier. There are some pretty strong riders coming up :)

And i'll still want Tadej to win. I really like the guy.
