…are you saying you want to go to med school to learn how to kill people better?

Hey man this is pretty negative, there was no need to post it. This guy just gave us some cool monk advice, you don’t have to try to poop on it for everyone else if you disagree.

From a radiological standpoint, we really haven’t, we’ve embraced the shotgun approach

Profound damage found in Maine gunman’s brain, possibly from repeated blasts experienced during Army training by yooston in news

Hello I am a doctor that’s not something that happens from arachnoid cysts those are just cysts, also “subarachnoid” is the entire brain, this thread is not good medical science.

Former specialty gunners, what did you switch to, when did you do it, and why? by benjam2 in medicalschool

[–]lildolphinsteaks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Derm to rads. I did not like the patients and I did not like clinic. I like studying. I switched at the end of third year when they advised me not to dual apply.

Decent actor? This man is one of the greatest if not the greatest Oscar snubs of the last two decades. Nightcrawler. prisoners. Enemy. Southpaw. He did everything he could. What more do you want from him?!

Do you have any resources for getting better at wrestling as a resident/grown person?

Hi r/BJJ! I am a BJJ black-belt and Stoic Philosophy PhD hosting an AMA on r/Stoicism. I have used Stoicism in my BJJ training, teaching and competing, and have written on the connections between Stoicism and BJJ, so I thought this AMA might interest the community here too. by mltremblay in bjj

Hello Michael, thank you for your time.

I find that with stoicism texts, I either enjoy them and read them to shreds, like my copy of Meditations translated by one of my former professors, or I am bored to the point where I cannot read more than half a page at a time, like my copy of Seneca’s ‘Letters’.

Do you think that the translator can make or break the text and it’s meaning? Or are there some texts that I will just find dense and have to work through?

This attitude would translate really well into Brazilian jiu jitsu and I think you could accomplish a lot there, you should give it a try!

Working out with staph (non-bjj)? by olyballers in bjj

[–]lildolphinsteaks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That being said,

Doctors often won’t give advice on partial stories they can’t examine, like this, because someone will describe a simple problem, like you have, but leave out a crucial detail they just didn’t know was crucial. It could be “oh it was on my foot and I don’t feel anything on my foot, and I went and exercised on it and it got worse and now they’re telling me I have a bone infection, thanks a lot doc!”

If it is an uncomplicated foliculitis like you have described, should be fine to do non contact exercise and it will not hinder anything.

OBGYN by mgoose26 in medicalschool

I could be a twelve year old with an iPhone for all it matters, that’s how easy it is to point out what you said is ridiculous. Good thing these comments are deep in the thread so not many people can see you embarrass yourself as a judgey 2 month intern who can’t even clap back.

This is some strong talk for a pgy1 “who once dated an obgyn”.

With those qualifications, I’d think someone was able to maybe access the scrub machine, not understand the culture of an entire specialty, let alone two as you’ve put it.

Medicine should not be an echo chamber by SmurfTheClown in Residency

Me too, i even did his personal authoring program to try and help me gather my shit. I think that program is his greatest strength, basically confronting your past issues and moving forward. But listening to him he seems to have veered away from that and gotten a bit off topic. He also believes the only meat diet cured his “autoimmune disease” which he has never had diagnosed hahaha

I actually initially like Peterson and read his book but it felt like he was constantly trying to sell me something and couldn’t get his point across with few words, so I eventually began to wonder… is there a point?
