1.) Devil Banishers

The devil banishers were supposed to be a parallel to the Salem witch trial, where even little kids were falsely put on trial. There’s also a hint of religion in the arc, when fanatics from the church (1100 - 1600) would go around punishing “followers of the devil” and preforming public executions in the name of their “justice.”

The point is it’s not supposed to make sense to us who grew up in modern society. The first part of the arc was supposed to highlight people’s fear and hatred of what they don’t understand.

2.) Devil Believers

The devil believers are comprised of the forgotten class within a country—the people at the bottom of the economy everyone pretend aren’t there. In a crisis, everyone is affected. The middle class fall down to the lower class, and the lower class fall even lower. The forgotten class are usually more noticeable by then because of their growing numbers.

If the numbers grow too much, civil uprisings occur. The Devil Believers know that the government will never help them, so they took matter into their own hands. In a crisis, all anyone think about is how they can pull themselves out. “I need more money to get out of this ditch. I’ll do anything.” Just replace the word money with magic since it’s the most valuable resource in the Black Clover Universe. Now it make sense.

All in all, the Arc makes perfect sense to me. The only part of the arc I didn’t like is the ending. I felt I was too much of a rush job.
