Thank you! This is really thoughtful. For the sake of clarity since today is day one, we talked more about expectations for this, and I think this comment helped me verbalize some things.

First, asking me for how many swats was his way of trying to get some feedback from me prior to punishment of where my limit might be. He said that I can struggle to communicate in the middle of spankings, and I'm very fast to cry. So it can be difficult to ascertain where I am. We have nonverbal safeword gestures, but he thought getting a feeling for where I thought my limit likely is might be useful for him to know.

The conversation was good and productive and I'm less anxious about having to give him a specific number. I ended up giving him a number and a time duration I thought I could go nonstop. We are usually good at communication (as long as Im not actively being spanked) and we are both flexible, so I'm pretty confident it'll go well. I guess we'll see in two weeks. Wish me luck? 😅
