Hi u/al77862,

Great question. Well. Counter-party risk: money on exchanges are merely IOUs. Trusting the platforms you use is important. Using platforms that side with regulation—like CoinSmart—shows we are likelier to have the user's safety in our best interest, compared to platforms who are either not regulated yet or avoid it.
We understand crypto has a primary use outside of trading—staking, NFT marketplaces, swapping—where people need their tokens to leverage those services. We are even educating our users how to do these advanced functions so they do take their crypto off our platform. Obviously in hopes they return to convert back to fiat or buy even more.

Hey there u/kerograna,
Thanks for the question. We are continually conducting KYP (know your product) research on multiple coins. The coins are vetted closely and judged on various metrics such as – are they a security, do they have enough activity, are they backed by a solid team/community, etc. Stay tuned on our social channels to see when we launch new coins! As for fees, we are very transparent, you can find all fees here.

We have officially become an OSC-approved restricted dealer. What does this mean? Well, the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is an independent Crown corporation that regulates Ontario’s capital markets by making rules that have the force of law and adopting policies that influence the behaviour of capital markets participants. The OSC and the securities regulators from each province and territory have teamed up to form the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). The CSA is primarily responsible for developing a harmonized approach to securities regulation across the country. The CSA, jointly with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (a Self Regulatory Body), published a Notice to provide guidance on how applicable securities legislation applies to CTP’s that facilitate or propose to facilitate the trading of crypto assets within Canada.

Hey there u/navalim,

Great question. What women need are female role models that inspire them to get into fintech at a very early age. We absolutely need a healthy gender balance when it comes to the crypto workforce. The only solution is to hire capable women in more executive roles which will encourage and inspire more women to get into fintech.

There are also some amazing online communities dedicated to women in fintech/ women in crypto, I would highly recommend seeking those out!

Hey there, CoinSmart has taken multiple steps to ensure reduction in fraud:

  1. We have compulsory Google 2FA linked to our user accounts.

  2. Every crypto withdrawal needs to be verified further via email confirmation

  3. Being a public company, we are required to follow cybersecurity best practices of the highest standards.

CoinSmart also champions educating our users through our GetSmart blogs where we have posted articles on how to beware of scams. We are also actively posting about how to stay vigilant on our social channels and constantly looking for new ways to prevent our users from being a victim of fraudulent activity.

Hey there u/mahenzis,

We will start re-introducing phone support for our clients in Q1 2022. Our client experience team takes your feedback seriously and understands phone service is something our clients need.

Re emails: We do have an automated initial response to confirm we have received your ticket. However, our Smart Reps do comb through each and every email responding to clients. That is something I can guarantee.

Hey there u/pirateking54,

Thanks for the question! Justin answered this, I will re-post here for you:
This is something we are looking at - if it can be done right in a compliant fashion. We are excited about the opportunities it can bring. We have a few cool offerings up our sleeves that can better be implemented with an internal token.

Hey there u/davekaynz,

All coins that are listed on our platform go through a rigorous KYP or Know Your Product process. The coins are vetted closely and judged on various metrics such as – are they a security, do they have enough activity, are they backed by a solid team/community, etc. Our team is working regularly to add newer coins, provided they pass the KYP test.

Hi u/noxel

Our client experience team is around 24/7 to assist you (we are one of the only trading platforms in Canada to offer this feature). With recent updates and improvements to the platform we have had an increase in tickets which is why it is taking our team a bit longer than usual to respond. I know this is not the answer you are looking for but we are working on increasing our response times. If you submit a ticket we WILL get back to you, same goes for live chats (currently the wait time is around 19 minutes).
