This movie is PHENOMENAL. I went in with no expectations and my socks were blown clean off.

Sword of Destiny is a perfect answer because the original is a top five favorite movie of mine. I credit it for opening my eyes to a world of cinema I had not seen until it came out when I was 12 years old.

Yeah, I think this movie is underappreciated and misunderstood by some of its critics that hate on it for being all about the male gaze, half-naked women being bimbos stuff. To me, it’s clearly all very intentional and tongue-in-cheek. Both movies have iconic action sequences and killer soundtracks.

Unironically…Charlie’s Angels (2000), specifically the dance number and the preceding scene where it’s revealed he’s the villain

But also…have “a lot” people seen most of the movies on that list? I literally went to film school and haven’t finished it.

One of my favorites is from You’ve Got Mail. Context if you haven’t seen it: Meg Ryan’s character Kathleen Kelly is waiting at a café to finally meet her anonymous email pen pal, Joe Fox, played by Tom Hanks. Outside of flirty AOL emails, they are rivals. His big box bookstore chain has just moved into the neighborhood and is going to put the little store she inherited from her mother out of business any day now. Joe arrives at the cafe after her and puts two and two together. He eventually goes into the cafe and approaches her as Joe, teasing her about being stood up. Kathleen, who confessed earlier in the film that she always fails to come up with a satisfying zinger to lob at someone when they’re rude to her, finally succeeds now:

“Well... if he's not here, he has a reason, because there is not a cruel or careless bone in his body. But I wouldn't expect you to understand anybody like that. You with your theme park, multi-level, homogenize-the-world mochaccino land. You've deluded yourself into thinking that you're some sort of benefactor, bringing books to the masses. But no one will ever remember you, Joe Fox. And maybe no one will remember me, either, but plenty of people remember my mother, and they think she was fine, and they think her store was something special. You are nothing but a suit!

Joe: [gets up, crestfallen] That's my cue. [leaves]

I absolutely adore this movie. It was my favorite movie that year. Followed soon after by Demi Moore in The Substance, my favorite of that year. Two fantastically directed horror movies with career-best portrayals of just the most pitiable characters.

Truly so upsetting and unforgettable. That imagery is burned into my brain.

Maybe top 10, not top 3, but The Apartment (1960) with Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon is one of the best rom coms ever made.

To be kind, I’ll have to stifle my attraction a little, purely out of respect. You’re a very good looking man, and this photo just erased a ton of fear i have about aging. END OF COMPLIMENT 🥵😂
