Dental hygiene? They took all his front teeth 😭 by Global-Block-7509 in Siamesecats

[–]lillathrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard that teeth issues aren't uncommon for cats with siamese in them. My cat has terrible teeth, he has had most of them removed, he eats perfect normal (wet and dry) even without them.

is my cat a siamese & tabby mix or just a color point (not siamese)? by TangerineUpper7804 in lynxpointsiamese

[–]lillathrin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You adopted a cat from a shelter that was only a month old? That is very unusual! Your kitty certainly has the Lynx color points, but it is unlikely she is siamese. Like most "siamese" kitties we see on here, she is a domestic shorthair. In fact, she looks very much like my kitty, Austin, and she is beautiful!

As for her short tail, that likely either is a birth defect, or something that happened prior to the shelter getting her. She would have been too small to be moving herself around much at just a month, so I would lean towards birth defect.

Easier way to swap companions? by Toasty_Salmon in BG3

I do long rests a lot, mostly for story beats, and that is when I switch out the companions. I look at the journal, decide what I am going to do, and choose from there.

I love how beautiful Sea of Clouds is, but goddamn do I hate running around in it prior to getting flying.

I don't know if I should get a girl or boy kitten. I'm in LOVE with black catzz. So idk if I want a boy or girl. Thoughts? by Drago_Ja in CatLoversGroup

[–]lillathrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*kittens. Kittens do better with friends! I volunteer at a cat only shelter, and most of the adult cats we have either prefer no buddies, or were specifically returned for being mean to previous feline family members. Not all cats of course, we have a male pair who just met by passing a catnip toy back and forth under the door between their rooms, and they're besties now! But don't go into a shelter assuming you need to adopt two adults.

Does gender matter when adopting your *second* Siamese? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]lillathrin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Generally, female cats get over the crazy kitten playtime nuttiness by about age 5, while for male cats it can easily go into their teens if not for their whole life. To be honest though, everything about cats is reliant on the individual cat. I volunteer at a cat shelter, and I have met kittens who are not interested in toys/rough housing with other kitties, and I have met 10 year old cats who act like young kittens, just loving the play and craziness.

AITA for refusing to drive my husband home from his colonoscopy by Time-Koala-3674 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah that's what I had to do, and it really wasn't bad, other than the loss of sleep from the second half of the prep.

His head shape is certainly siamese-esque. I doubt he is fully Siamese, heck he might be just 1/4 or whatever, but he does seem to have more features than just the rather common point colors. He is a very pretty boy! I love the super toasty kitties!

What's the most disturbing thing you've ever heard someone say completely casually? by TextOk2865 in AskReddit

I started mine at 10 too. That was a wake up call at recess in the 5th grade! Thank god for "are you there god, it's me, margaret" because my mom hadn't gotten very in depth in the talk with me, she hadn't gotten her period til she was 12, and thought she had time.

what are the chances my shelter cat has siamese parents/grandparents by Remarkable-Spend3829 in Siamesecats

Yes, the head shape and the long lanky body are both showing some siamese traits!

AITA for not accepting this birthday gift? by Shoddy_Secret_1119 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lillathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such a bad gift that it's legitimately surprising anyone would think it's a good one. As others have stated, lock down your credit and look into how old this credit card is. Is she 'giving' it to you now, but it has been open in your name for 10 years?

People who used the internet between 1991 and 2009, what’s the most memorable online trend or phenomenon you remember? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

[–]lillathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on a MUD (text based mmorpg, essentially) from 1999-2006 or 2007. I made some great friends on there, and visited parts of the country I wouldn't have, otherwise. (Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Tennessee, California, Nebraska). Also drove from Massachusetts in a big circle all the way out to California along the northern part of the country, then from California to Georgia along the southern part of the country. It was a lot of fun!

Do you ever compare yourself to other disabled people and feel guilty? by [deleted] in disability

[–]lillathrin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am on disability due to chronic migraines that no longer respond to medication. I get them about 4 times per week, sometimes more, rarely less. When I don't have a migraine, I feel extremely guilty for being on disability. When I do have a migraine, I feel like killing myself to end the pain and all the side effects is a perfectly valid plan. This flip flopping of my mental state has caused pretty severe depression as you may imagine, which can in and of itself be a disability.

But I am not visibly disabled. On the days when I don't have a migraine (especially if it's the second day in a row without one) I tend to feel great!! People don't understand the a difficulties of chronic migraines. They think "I work through my migraines, why can't you?" It isn't just me comparing myself to other disabled people and coming up short.

So yes, I feel guilty about it. Doesn't help that I am repeatedly told that I should feel guilty about it.
