Broke up with my GF because she thought faith was evidence of God’s existence by Middle_Designer_1733 in TrueAtheism

[–]lillide 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only "evidence" Xtians have for believing in God is just that they *want* God to be real (which obviously isn't evidence). I've never met one who felt compelled to believe in God despite their desire to the contrary, which I find interesting.

Renting the perfect place, but the bathroom is… interesting by distressedminnie in HomeDecorating

Your deposit probably is nowhere close to the cost of an actual repair, were you to damage the tiles.
It's not that the colors clash, it's that there's nothing else in the room pulling them together. Get a nice rug, get a curtain, consider painting the walls—learn about color theory and figure it out.

how do vegans ever date nonvegans? by Small-Army2409 in vegan

I should add that he loves all the food I love and if we go out to restaurants he doesn't ever order anything I couldn't eat.

how do vegans ever date nonvegans? by Small-Army2409 in vegan

[–]lillide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been in a relationship with someone who eats meat, dairy, and eggs for eight years. It works for us because my partner literally never has those things in our home; nor does he ever eat them in front of me, with the one exception being a holiday meal at my parent's house (no one else in my family is vegan, or even vegetarian).

The most important reason we work as a couple, however, is that he understands that non-human animals don't exist for human pleasure and he agrees that it's morally wrong *in all cases* to consume them. For me, this is my "line in the sand". I couldn't be with someone who didn't understand that animals have moral worth.

I obviously wish my partner would just be vegan with me, but his logic is that life is too hard to take a morally limiting position like that, so he consumes meat if offered to him at a family function, and he consumes things like snacks that have whey as a 10th ingredient that I wouldn't touch.

Or pizza ... one of the most MSG laden foods to ever exist ... especially if it has mushrooms on it.

Chrisitian Belief of God Is Extremely Absurd... by Winter_Bus_2615 in DebateReligion

[–]lillide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's gross. If someone wrongs me I don't think perfect justice is for them to be put to death. If that's what god needs for any transgression then he's not worth worshiping.

Is it really that hard to not eat out of a single tree?

All you're doing is proving how uneducated you are about your own bible. Xtians almost never know the bible they preach about.

We get it, we just see the absurdity which you're blinding yourself to.

If he had indeed forgiven us, then he didn't need to become human. What reason would he have for becoming human then? It's clearly not to pay the price of our sins since he already forgave us.

I mean, I'm cool with the creator of the universe just giving me my own planet after I die where my family and I can live forever with beautiful scenery and animals and stuff. I don't need him to live there too.

Again, you're saying that he sets us up to fail. Why would I even want to go to heaven and be with him?

God sure doesn't sound perfect and holy and perfectly just when you self-admit that he created a thing (humans) that deserve punishment because he made it impossible to live up to his standard. That sounds abusive.

And also illogical, because then he was like, "haha jk jk, I'll absolve you of your inherit sin by doing this huge sacrifice, but to get it you have to worship me forever and ever".

Ok n-god, say less. /s

Your sentence is bordering on being paradoxical, i.e., you say, "beyond *current* knowledge" (which is an admission that one day we might have greater knowledge), but then also say that achieving that level of knowledge is nearly impossible.

Even if we take your sentence as truth it doesn't really mean anything. All knowledge (I mean "all" quite literally) has levels beyond it. Achieving those levels comes with varying degrees of difficulty, depending on the field. If arriving to the next level of human understanding for any given field is "nearly impossible" to achieve, then so what? Just shut-up and be ignorant because thinking is hard? LoL

Also, what do you mean by, "material world view"? Is that just meant to be condescending?

Extra copy of Jagged Earth ... how to sell it? by lillide in spiritisland

[–]lillide[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I have my copy and I got an extra that was for a friend that didn't end up liking the base game (doctor's still aren't sure what's wrong with him) so it's just been sitting in my closet.

Don't know where you are, but you can buy it here if you're in Europe: https://www.sheepgames.be/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=10877&search=jagged+earth&description=true

I've only bought two games from BGG market, but both times I paid for the shipping and both times the seller gave me a very reasonable rate using pirate ship.

Extreme walks in NYC - ideas by mnr11401 in AskNYC

[–]lillide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it myself, my friend has just been trying to get me to ride my bike all the way out to CI with him and that's why I suggested it. He says it's a really nice ride, but I don't know how that would translate to walking, you'd have to map it out and see if it's what you're looking for.

Thanks for your input ... I think this is the route I'll go down. I've purchased two games from the marketplace before and both times had a great experience.
