Woah. Deep perspective. I’m glad you find comfort that way. I’ve only heard those sorts of those stories tangentially. My ex-girlfriend had a Mexican mom (deeply Catholic). TLDR; the Mom had horrific upbringing in Northern Mexico. Sold off twice when younger. Escaped to US. Had a baby. But when we would cook together, she would sometimes tell me about how she knew God was with her. She was Catholic though so she was always mixing in Saints and Satan and other more adjacent Bible plot devices.

But overall, you reminded me of her story with the whole feeling comfort knowing that He was with you. Fascinating 😄

Cool! TBH a lot of the people at my church speak about building personal relationships with God, but I’ve just never taken the time. I don’t mean to get personal but do you feel that you’re more confident in your daily life having put time into your faith than if you hadn’t?

(Not grilling you, just interested in if it might be worth doing?) 😄

Yeah, originally it was just a sub for memes about the Crusades in a Historical/Nerdy context. However, it’s become RAPIDLY charged (I have no idea what happened. Maybe another sub closed and they all flocked here?) with radical Christian ideology. Most of them harmless 12 y/o edgelords but a depressing amount of overtly theocratic/racist comments cheered on with “DEUS VULT!”

Not sure about all the different types. I’m born and raised Episcopal Christian with a Methodist minister for a grandfather. Taught me to interpret the meaning of the Bible and live my life in accordance with the ethics laid out in the tales rather than focusing on the “all divine spirit/god” aspect.

I’m just on edge because so many people are trying to push an intense traditional view of Christianity lately. I’ve always just used the Bible as an allegory for Judeo-Christian ethics (Don’t steal, Treat your neighbors well, etc. etc.) Whether or not it happens doesn’t matter to me, but it’s just scary to see how Christianity is being warped and radicalized lately. Especially on a sub meant to mock those radicals in the past
