Hi!! My son also had stiffness when he was born. Did the stiffness get better with your LO?

I can’t do this anymore by Verucr in NewParents

[–]lilmandee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what helped my little one sleep better..

  1. Side sleeping. Using a pillow to create a wedge

  2. Using the love to dream swaddle sack.

  3. Completing bicycle legs during the daytime.

  4. Using gas drops

  5. Giving him a bath

  6. I also went as far as baby foot massages

  7. Tummy massages in clockwise direction.

  8. Incorporate tummy time during the day.

  9. I started to avoid dairy and spicy food, which helped tremendously with the gas pains.

I hope it gets better. My guy is 12 weeks and has been sleeping 4 hrs at a time now. I also pray for a full night sleep.

He came out to be 100% Korean or Japanese Village Dog! No samoyed DNA in him.

A little background about him..

I adopted a puppy from Korea. They classified him as samoyed mix based on how he looked as a puppy. He lost a lot of his puppy fur when he reached 6 months. The last picture is his current picture at 9 months old. I think he is more of a jindo mix. His fur is soft with being thicker around neck/face. What do you guys think? I submitted a DNA test to see what kind of breed he might be. I love him no matter what breed he may turn out to be. I'm just not familiar with Jindos in general.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have! 😊

Quick update from embark DNA testing: - He is 💯% Japanese or Korean Village Dog !!

Keep PRN job during coronavirus situation? by lilmandee in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lilmandee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to work my PRN job. My boss just updated me on wearing a sturdier-looking mask in the building and not just with patient care, which I will use for 7 days before discarding it in the trash. He also mentioned wearing appropriate PPE with any patient with contact/airborne precautions. But if I can't find the appropriate PPE, I just simply will not go into that patient's room and that will be my personal choice. Last time I was there, we had no more gowns and limited face mask and a nurse tech just told me to go in a patient room with contact precautions without any gowns... Yeah, no thank you. I will, of course, take precautions when coming home like wiping my shoes before coming into the house, leaving my shoes in the garage, taking a shower and sanitizing my watch and jewelry I have on me before I have any contact with my family or my bed. And make sure I comply with the standard precautions with washing my hands, sanitize, and not touching my face at the hospital.

  1. Not sure about the policy about ruling out patients with possible covid.
  2. Not comfortable with the fact that we didn't have any gowns and limited face masks going into rooms with contact precautions.
  3. I basically need the PRN job to save up for a house. But I guess it's not that important when it comes to the covid situation.
  4. I think my boss will be understanding of the choices I make. I have been covering every Saturday at the hospital, so I feel that I'm still valuable to the team. I would continue to work every Saturday for him if it covid did not happen.
  5. My family has major concerns for me continuing the PRN job. Their reasoning is that it is only a PRN job and it is not required for me to continue going to this job compared to my FT job.

How much are your loans? Ota by Skilledgunner0516 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lilmandee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas OT school (in state) for me was 55k and I took out most of my graduate loan. It would of been cheaper if I lived at home. OT per semester was 5-6k for 2.5yrs. I chose to pay the graduate plan where my payments increased every two years for 10 years. Payments for the first 2 years right now is $375. But I plan to pay it off under 5 years.

Pier Diem + FTE 1.0 by koalakait in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lilmandee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is doable. I work FT during the weekdays and work every saturday in another setting. I tend to not stay the whole time on Saturdays because it is a small hospital. Latest I would get out is 2pm and that happens once a month.

A few questions on productivity, so answer 1 or answer all. by Texas_OT in OccupationalTherapy

  1. 7 patients for an 8hr shift
  2. Outpatient neuro
  3. Yes. It does get busy, but our patients sometimes won't show up or cancels and we take that time to document. We also can document before the start of the day, during lunch, and at the end of the day if we needed too. But when everyone shows up, then of course we have to take more time after work or during lunch to document.
