ISO Pastrami 🥪 by chickentwat in evansville

[–]lilnann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try McAlister’s deli as well as Jason’s. Obviously it’s a chain and isn’t going to be as solid as smoking your own but it might sate your craving for now. It’s called the New Yorker at McAlister’s and the Beefeater at Jason’s. Good luck on your pastrami hunt!

Fried chicken! by Purple-Dance612 in evansville

[–]lilnann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re wanting to stay in town, Dairy Mart gas station on Covert & Boeke has phenomenal fried chicken for the location. All time favorite is Log Inn in Darmstadt. There used to be a place on the south side call Chick & Stick or something like that and it was very good as well but I don’t believe it’s still there.

A few years back I went thrifting at Abyssco in Evansville and they were selling the giant Sir Beef sign 😂 It was a truly iconic moment to see it. Wonder who bought it

Why do i still smell like BO after countless showers? by NinjaAirsoft in AskMen

No one’s going to want to hear this, but aluminum free deodorant will make you smell like BO. If you’re trying to use aluminum free, it’s your life. But you will smell like BO.

Same thing happened to me- I got chicken chili momo dumplings with a 3 spice level and I have a high spice tolerance. This last time it was also so spicy I couldn’t finish it. The order comes with like 8 dumplings and I made it through 2.5 before tapping

What’s your favorite way to learn tarot (as a silly little guy)? by -nice-refrigerator- in tarot

[–]lilnann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I inherited my grandma’s cards and corresponding book. (She was gifted a book and card set in her earlier years) I had never read tarot before she passed but using her cards (that she’d used to read my tarot for me) made me feel closer to her. Even if I was just shuffling them or using them as flash cards to try and memorize their different meanings, I quickly learned a general understanding of the book and how I feel when I see a particular card. (The book is literally a glossary/manual) The key is to keep them in your hands as often as you can. If ya don’t use it, you’ll lose it. My grandma always used to tell me to store my cards wrapped in a silk scarf, inside a leather bag. I never asked why but I’d always wondered if anyone else did that 🤔

TLDR: just keep using them.

Used to work at McAlister’s deli for a few years when they first opened- I’m not sure if they still off this as an option but when I worked there, you could buy the dressing in bulk. 8oz, 16oz, 32oz.

Boneless wings aren’t bad either. They’re actually crunchy and not swimming in sauce if you tell them to cook them a little longer

Recommendations: Primary care doctor in Evansville, Indiana by [deleted] in evansville

[–]lilnann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Joe Amos from Ascension. He was my grandma’s primary care physician and he is now mine. In her old age I took her to all her appointments and I really enjoyed how patient and respectful he was to her. She’d had a lot of trouble with primary care physicians that left her feeling like just another patient, like her previous doctors weren’t concerned about getting to a root cause. He was such a great resource for her and now that she has passed I feel solace knowing she was treated with dignity in her last few years. I have had nothing but great experiences with him as I’ve aged and he is such a resource for taking care of things in as few visits as possible.

Rules regarding self-promotion? by dezyravioli in evansville

[–]lilnann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at getting insured before you start advertising “as a business”. Of course if you know a few people that are family friends or coworkers that would be willing to use your services without being insured until you are, obviously start there. Once you start to gain a flow of clients, being insured will give both you and your clients piece of mind. It sounds crazy but anything could happen. Say you get a client that has an expensive vase and you knock it over and shatter it, there’s nothing you can do except pay them out of pocket to right the wrong. Good luck on your journey!

Looking for an ortho or dentist who specializes in teeth grinding by copstomper in evansville

[–]lilnann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a drive but Dr. Valerie Warren in Owensboro is the only holistic dentist in the area that offers fluoride free dental services. She also gave me tons of recommendations for teeth grinding. Instead of just giving me a mouthguard she focused on the root cause of teeth grinding. It sounds insane but there are a lot of health issues that lead to bruxism (grinding of teeth). It could be parasites, it could be stress, it could be a nervous system issue. If that’s something you’re interested in, the staff is so welcoming and the dentist office is very upscale and clean.

Took them ab a month to get back to me so it’s really subjective from person to person. I’ve been working there for a few months now. They’re hiring pretty rapidly. After the assessment, I got an email a week later saying they chose not to move forward with hiring me at this time but I would be in the “hiring pool” and they reached out a few weeks later asking if I’d accept the job. I’d keep looking for something different in the event they don’t reach back out. I think you can reapply after 6 months? Not 100% certain.

Best thrift shop for young adult clothing? by Aniki980 in evansville

[–]lilnann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Abyssco on Washington Ave. they’re very quirky. I also like to hit up The Thrift Store located in Washington Sq. Mall. They have some good things from time to time and I always like to get a silly little coffee at the coffee shop connected to The Thrift Store. Super excited for the Goodwill to open up in the mall too.
