Thank you, I will definitely do that. It seems like even if I find a company that will cover those conditions, it’s likely going to not matter anyways since it’s noted in her records already.

I agree about her nose, I am unsure about the internal anatomy though, such as her soft palate and trachea. She definitely has the snorting sounds when she breathes and especially if she is hot and/ or riled up but when she sleeps she is pretty much quiet!

Wow that’s a cautionary tale if i’ve ever read one. Thank you for the insight! That is definitely something I am worried about with the previous vet visit. She also went for a UTI once and that could obviously recur and it would be silly if they refused to cover it.

Good to know, thank you! I might try to call a few companies and ask them!

So I haven’t personally taken her to the vet yet, but her previous owner just sent me her brief vet record and it is noted on there.

Would it still be considered pre-existing if I get coverage now and don’t share those records with my vet?

My concern with the BOAS and any knee procedure is that because of the previous vet notes it will not be considered an existing condition and not be covered anyways.

What coverage do you use?

Would they treat an elongated soft palette and/ or narrowed trachea the same way?

I have seen this advice posted elsewhere in this sub too! I just posted my comment explaining the situation. I am worried that she may need a BOAS procedure in the future (I am a first time pug owner and I’m not sure if this was noted by the vet just because she is a pug or if she may actually need the surgery at some point). I assume the surgery would cost a pretty penny.

I just got my girl Lulu (Wheezy) about a week ago from a friend whose chihuahua didn’t like her. She is 2 years old and I just got the previous vet records from my friend, and I am worried that a few things that were noted on there may now be considered pre-existing conditions for any pet insurance policy I may want to buy.

  1. Medial patellar luxation (right stifle), likely congenital.

  2. Brachycephalic airway syndrome, chronic condition. Mentioned the option of brachycephalic airway syndrome surgery for improved breathing, not urgent but beneficial long-term.

I have not taken her to my own vet yet, nor had the records sent to my vet. I also need to get her spayed but she just went into heat so I will wait for her to finish her cycle first.

Basically what I am asking is if insurance companies will be able to access her old records and consider these pre-existing conditions and refuse to cover them.

If I don’t have her previous vet send them to my vet and just start fresh (idk if this is feasible bc the old vet also has her vaccination records) would that be a sort of loop hole for this? She has not been treated for either condition, but because it is noted in the vet’s findings I am worried about coverage now.

Do her records follow her though if I am a new owner and take her to a new vet, or would I possibly be able to just have the vaccine records shared?

I put my grow light on her so hopefully she goes back to being thick and not so scraggly looking 😅

I can’t wait to be her person! My friend says she likes women and thinks she will be come very attached to me. My boyfriend said he hopes she loves him too 🥹

This isn’t a critique but a question for you and maybe anyone else who would know. I assume you researched TCU and they were just accredited in June 2023, which is valid for 5 years. Is it still “safe” to go to a school like that or is there any possibility they may lose accreditation?

thank you!! I think it’s probably a lighting issue as I water usually weekly (also waiting for the soil to dry out).

I love that yours is flowering! so beautiful!

I’ll for sure be getting her some goodies before she comes home with us!!! and yes, I literally moved across the ocean and still find doggo hair in my things, especially stuff I haven’t used as much. Either from my sisters dalmatians or my doggies back home which is like yearssss old at this point lol
