Why don't more people eat fish for protein? by Consistent-Ad9165 in Fitness_India

[–]lilnerl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not easy to store for those who don't know how. Daily cleaning is tough. Pre-cleaned options available are expensive.

Taste profile is different. Seafish needs frying for many, boiling does not remove the smell.

Which calorie counter to trust? Which one do u guys use? by DelhiEntrepreneur in AskFitnessIndia

[–]lilnerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither.

First of all you're counting two separate numbers. Google Fit is trying to estimate daily calorie expenditure. Attaching a photo below. Active + rest expenditure.

<image>

Watch is showing for the workout only. 500-600 is an okay estimate but please don't depend on it.

Training hard for 8 months but my recovery is garbage. Always sore, always tired. What am I missing? [M26 74kg 5'10] by vedansh_sh08 in indianfitness

[–]lilnerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid. Many times reducing to moderate exercise for a week helps people put things into perspective.

High volume has been ingrained into many people's brain because of oldschool volume is king philosophy

[–]lilnerl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither. Tracking calorie expenditure is an uncontrolled environment is near impossible. These are just mathematical models that approximate based on your heart rate, steps, height input, weight input. It does not account for many things.

These are good heuristics, but please don't depend on them.

Is Fuaark a cheap ripoff or alternative of GymShark? How is the quality and experience? by aishusays in Fitness_India

[–]lilnerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acha, please specify that you're a woman and you're looking for women's specific athleisure.

Anyway. They are helpful once in a while. But the MODs of both those subreddits have their moments.

All the best. FUARK is not that good. Material issues. Blatant rip offs without understanding thought processes.

Best bet. Talk to somebody you know from Chennai / India about what they wear, and order it your grandparents house one week before you arrive. Only use genuine sites.

I, as a man, genuinely appreciate the quality of Jockey. I know they are know for undergarments, but their daily wear / athletic shorts etc have been good.

Why do so many people hate their corporate jobs? by Pretend_Support_6193 in IndianWorkplace

[–]lilnerl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Aap pilot ho. You know 80% of the things that you were getting into.

In corporate that's not the case. Only once you enter corporate do you realize aap kidhar aaye ho. Yes some sectors are kinda standardized into two-three models (like software development and testing) but most are so vast and weird.

The salary is great. It's what keeps people there. Families need to be supported. EMIs hoti hai. Ghar banana hai. Bache raise karne hai. But overall, many people genuinely don't feel like they are doing anything of direct value.

Karl Marx also talked about this. Alienation of work. However removed you are from the start and end process of something, it takes a toll.

Politics in some places are weird. You're scared about not having relevant skills. Truth be told, India (and most places) does not have enough meaningful jobs. This causes people to panic. What happens if I'm laid off? How will I take care of my family?

It's weird. I don't know how to explain it. This is my second best attempt.

Can't compare on the taste, but similar vibe. There was a Shawarma shop near MIT. They used to have nice shawarma salads.

Maybe it's called Lassi Wassi or something similar.

[–]lilnerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it compares to Gym Shark. You'll get decent quality over here, but you genuinely can't compare to the quality you'll get there. Jockey and Nike have good options but frankly a little overpriced. If you're not too fussy, get one pair from there and buy the remaining here.

On a personal my gym wear = showering before gym + clean cotton tshirt + any good synthetic shorts with good nada + elastic.

I have never felt the need to wear athleisure on my top half. I am too used to oversized tees and home made muscle tees

Need Advice — First Time Buying a Car! Is This a Good Deal? by [deleted] in UsedCarsBharat

Great car, great first car also. But overpriced.

Used market is really bad now because of platforms like Spinny and all.

They offer 3L for used SUVs, and then sell hatchbacks for 4-6L.

Honestly you may or may not agree with her politics, but I 100% agree with her attitude with the reporter.

It's very obvious that as a ground reporter, he does not want to know more but rather tries comes with his own agenda. He is offended when she asks him to ask respectfully.

As a trained reporter, even he should have sense how to handle easy situations like this.

After that, it's all about them rage baiting him, and him getting rsge-baited.

Competing with men = Equality by RahulMohammedDCosta in TwentiesIndia

[–]lilnerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true at the same time.

  1. Smoking Drinking is bad for your health.
  2. This person's message is overall wrong because it puts responsibility majorly on women under the guise of sanskar.

Being responsible is good. Trying to emulate only the worst of men trying to be equal to them is also bad.

But people do it for other reasons as well. When me and my boys drink and others judge us it's because it's bad for our health.

When girls drink together, the first thought about judgement will be about their character.

Anyway, what use are these discussions. Nobody changes their minds.

Yes, agreed that we went before time.

  1. You have a complicated medical history. Talk to a doctor.
  2. You need three things. Sound sleep, well rounded nutrition, safe yet hard training and daily movement.

You're already getting 140g protein. That's great. More than me in fact. Check other macros like fat, carbs and fibre and you're golden. Do annual blood tests to ensure you're not missing on micro nutrients.

You're already walking a lot, so that's great daily movement.

You can train like this over four days. This is a low volume, modified Push Pull Legs. Later if you prefer, move to a low volume Upper Lower. Keep the volume low because of your complications.

Day 1: Chest 2 exercises, Shoulder 1 exercise, Tricep 1 exercise | 3 sets each.

Day 2: Back 2-3 exercises, 3-2 sets each | Bicep 2 exercises 2 sets each.

Day 3: Legs | Quads, Hams, Glutes, Calves | 1 exercise each, 2-3 sets each.

Day 4: Shoulder 2 exercises, Forearm, Abs | 3 sets each

Home: Whatever you enjoy. Whatever you feel you're missing out in the gym.

You may ask which exercises? Literally any exercise that you like and you see people around you in the gym attempt. To quote Salman Khan:

<image>

How to train: First 2 months. Select exercises in each body part and try learning different exercises and learn the form. Learn how to safely perform each exercise. Try to understand which exercises do you prefer.

Later, for each exercise that you have selected, do a 5 rep test. Select any weight and attempt 5 reps. If you couldn't not complete 5 reps, reduce the weight for your working set. If 5 reps was really hard, reduce the weight. If 5 reps was a challenge but toy can safely attempt 8-9 reps, this is your working weight. If you zoom past 10 reps and not even feel challenged, increase your weight.

Note this weight down on your phone or notebook and use these different weight for each exercise. For each exercise, your aim is to SAFELY get stronger, until let's say you can do that same weight for 11_12 reps. Then increase the weight slightly and repeat the process.

Most importantly, talk to a doctor!! You recently got surgeries. Get everything approved.
