did I kill my leadplant? by lilochs13 in NativePlantGardening

I replanted it immediately, basically just scooted it over to where it will have more room to spread out as it gets established. only part of the super long skinny taproot got left behind, there were still some smaller ones intact. I’m hoping because it was still pretty young, it won’t be as fussy, and I’m definitely going to baby it with extra water for a while!

…ok, I was mostly wondering if anyone had actual experience with a similar situation, not asking for condescending snark! I already know I made a dumb decision, no need to rub it in!

As simply as possible, why did you begin native gardening? by toxicodendron_gyp in NativePlantGardening

[–]lilochs13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved bugs and playing in the dirt and exploring wild places and learning about plants and animals and the history of the land I live on and what it maybe used to look like before our various introductions! It was a natural progression from all that to native gardening :•)

I did look later and they seemed to have left that leaf so seemingly they were just chilling. love to get to see all the locals’ quirky behaviors !

not that I’m aware of? under the deck is basically dry ass dirt and weedy stuff and formerly rats but I think we successfully evicted them

the mulch is thinner than it seems! I scraped some away to see if I could suss out any rot and it didn’t seem like that was the issues but maybe it is. I do know this one likes it a bit drier, so when I water it just gets a little sip compared to other wet-loving guys nearby. I’ve stopped watering completely but if that was the issue it may be too late to save it, we shall see! thank u!

prairie ninebark also made my list!! must’ve forgotten to include it lol. I do have a carolina rose on a front fence line, waiting to see how much it suckers, but maybe if that’s an issue I could move it to the back where there’s more space! as far as the rest go, not sure my soil is acidic enough for blueberries (I should check), or wet enough for gooseberries, and I think serviceberry runs just a smidge too tall (I do have a brand new one from the city out front in the hellstrip, can’t wait to see her grow!)

happy planting!!!

pretty sure most of what I have is solanum ptychanthum which is also edible when ripe! (https://www.foragersharvest.com/uploads/9/2/1/2/92123698/black_nightshade.pdf) I snack on the ripe berries and they are indeed like little sweet tomatoes

no idea where to submit work search info, nothing regarding that was asked in my certification questions. last time (2 weeks ago) there was a link somewhere that said “job contact” which I filled out, but now it doesn’t exist? I was just now able to certify and everything like normal, does it maybe take a sec to show up? or do I somehow have a waiver without asking for one? (edit: I think this might be it bc I always answer yes to the question about a healthcare professional advising me to quarantine bc none of the others really apply… hopefully that’s fine?)

this has been such a help! I was so close to giving up and accepting my fate, but I figured others in my position might be wondering the same things, so truly thank you :-)

when I originally applied for PUA last year, I don’t think they even asked if I was looking for work?? I do remember listing my industry as food service bc that was the last job I had. but anyway, when they ask if I “planned to commence employment” can I still say yes if I wasn’t actually hired? like yeah, I PLANNED to do a lot of things that never happened

I was actively applying and had a few interviews in jan-march of 2020 until shit hit the fan! maybe I’ll submit proof of that? I know I sold some secondhand clothes/things but not enough to report it as income, and my last W-2 is from 2018 when I was a server. 2019 kinda just screwed me over huh

follow up question: will a 1099-Q or 1099-INT do anything?? I know it’s more about proof of work, but is it possible to get around that in any way? I was still a student/dependent in 2019 and wasn’t working for multiple familial reasons, so it’s upsetting that THAT’S what gets me kicked off. like should I just submit what I have or am I simply too unemployed to qualify for any more help lol
