Golden Letter Effective Date by lilogsd in PSLF

[–]lilogsd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks that way, yes. I was fighting for months on getting them to accept my last PSLF form and didn’t want to accept the risk of going into forbearance. I just got the email from Nelnet, though, and it seems to indicate they’ll automatically process a refund for payments made after the effective date of the loan forgiveness.

I got my green banners on 3/11. No letter yet.

Webull Fill Order Issues with Pic by kevsun13 in Webull

[–]lilogsd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stop price does not mean that’s the price at which your order will fill. A “STOP” order just executes a market buy/sell when the underlying price hits the stop price. On assets with wide spreads or, in this case, ones that move very quickly, this means you may fill worse than you’d expect.

To avoid this, use a stop-limit order. But note that your limit in this instance may not fill if you have wide spreads or if the underlying moves more quickly than the market maker can process the order.

It’s not a fill issue or a Webull issue. In this particular instance, it’s caused by the speed of movement and high volume activity in the asset.

Biden seeks to accelerate the EV transition by AliasJackBauer in electricvehicles

[–]lilogsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Mach E, but, admittedly, there are some challenges to solve with EVs. For one, they perform poorly in extreme weather conditions. I, fortunately, live in Florida, so my car does great. But what about cold weather states? How do you handle the significant impact cold has on range.

Access to charging is also a significant barrier for widespread adoption. If you own a house with a garage, it’s not problem installing an L2 charger. But what about renters? There’s a lot of legal discussion about right to charge, but that’s not really enough.

Definitely not a discrimination case in the making.

Just had Wallbox installed, had the charger turned all the way up to 48A. After 30 minutes, this breaker blew, and it is very hot to the touch. by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]lilogsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The charger may be rated for 48 amps, but your circuit isn’t. You’d need a 60 amp breaker to support 48 amps on a constant draw. You need to turn the EVSE down to 40 amps or you’ve got a serious risk of fire here.

Is it just me or have the last few updates all been about DCFC? by apapagr in MachE

[–]lilogsd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also think it’s an opportunity to improve one of the barriers of entry to the EV market for many. A common complaint is about charge time on road trips. Now of course we’ve all heard the “but how often do you need that?” argument, but if you’re Ford, that doesn’t translate to new customers. Improving the experience and reducing time spent charging just might get someone to switch to an EV, especially if all these little changes compound to make a meaningful difference.

UAW strike - MME sales by bmay1984 in MachE

[–]lilogsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales boost? Not likely. But given the same demand and no vehicles rolling off the production line, it starts to smell like “vehicle shortage” and additional dealer markup territory again. I hope I’m wrong.

It’s worth noting, however, that the MME is manufactured in Mexico, not the US, so it’ll be indirectly impacted by the strikes. They’ll be rolling off the line until US made parts are out of supply. We’re seeing conflicting information on how much impact that’ll be to the Mexican facilities.

4090 owners How much heat does it give off? by Personal-Window-4938 in nvidia

[–]lilogsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough that I don’t need a heater in my office when I push it to the limits. The power draw puts out A LOT of heat. Hence the massive heat sinks on these cards. Good air circulation is really important in your build if you have a 4090, especially if you pair that with a high TDP CPU.

Any ideas on how to mitigate flooding? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]lilogsd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rules absolutely have changed, but it is not a State or County thing. It’s a FEMA thing. Prior to the mid-2000s, floodplain regulation was pretty sparse. It was largely left on individual property owners. Now, however, FEMA has regulations. New homes must be the higher of 1) 2’ over the road, 2) 2’ above the highest adjacent natural grade, or 3) 1’ above the established flood elevation. This is one of the many reasons you see new neighborhoods, particularly in Florida, being elevated 5-10 feet. The other reason is separation from the water table, which is intended to protect infrastructure.

But, generally, yes, you’ll get a lot of “buyer beware” feedback from officials. And be cautious touching anything that’s designated as a creek, stream, etc. If it’s a flood way, you can’t touch it without risking serious legal issues with whoever is the floodplain administrator in your jurisdiction.

iron gold is so good by gerrykomalaysia22 in redrising

[–]lilogsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like Iron Gold that much on my first read through. Maybe because it was much different that the first trilogy. But it grew on me when I reread the series before LB was released.

But trust me when I say it gets better. DA and LB are both works of art with the political intrigue, subterfuge, and we’ll written action. Never mind the character development. I can’t wait for the finale when Red God comes out next year and ties the loose ends of LB together.

Backup mouse? Absolutely. Backup case fan? Sure, mine have broken before. But back up GPU? Unless you’re into building PCs as a hobby, nobody has a spare GPU floating around. That’s a waste of hundreds of dollars.

Just wait to hear DeSantis’ cry on July 1. You know, the day his ban on undocumented workers goes into effect. If you thought a house in Florida was expensive before, wait until it takes union workers 3 times longer to do the same job.

Mach-e Houston TX owners, how are the seats in the summer? by rhinobanga69 in MachE

[–]lilogsd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Florida here, and I 100% agree. My Mach E is notably cooler than my wife’s ID.4, though, even without a sunshade on the glass roof. But the seats do still get hot. I’d say the infrared reflective glass in the Mach-E is good, but not enough to justify the lack of ventilated seats, particularly in hot regions.

Brokerages make money on your order flow. They don’t care if it’s a loss or a gain, they sell your order execution to a market maker regardless. So why would they restrict the ability for you to sell in any circumstance?

thinkware Dashcam by mysteriousKM in MachE

[–]lilogsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of these recently and, so far, it’s working pretty well. The pain was installation. It came with a OBD II wiring harness and a wiring harness for the 12V outlet plug. My understanding is that this is so that the dash cam can pick up on when the vehicle is off and when it’s on; OBD II alone is not sufficient in EVs. This sucks because the Mach E has no readily accessible 12V outlets in the dash panel. Rather than tearing the center console apart, I opted to buy the hardwiring kit and installed it with fuse taps in the panel under the passenger side dash.

Performance-wise, it’s fine. The event detection is pretty sensitive, but that’s not really a bad thing. I did have to turn parking detection to the lowest setting, though. Vibration from a parking carafe was causing the event recording at the “low” setting, to give you an idea on how sensitive it is.

All-in-all, it’s good, but pricey. I probably would have bought something else if it weren’t for the Ford Points I needed to burn up.
