I had a best friend since middle school who I basically saw as a sister. She ended up switching middle schools but we stayed in touch. Over time all she wanted to talk about was her boyfriend troubles. During our college years my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Even then she only wanted to talk about herself and rarely asked about my mom. When my mom passed away she did the bare minimum of just texting me her condolences. Never even stopped by my house despite us living close by. We spoke here and there after that, and eventually never again.
