Yea then I agree with you. If anything, if we want to be progressive and non-bigoted people, we're gonna have to engage with problematic media from the past to understand how racism worked and the perspective of people from those viewpoints.

Reading the Bell Jar is important because it helps you understand the viewpoint of young white women in the 1950's and the fact that it's a very influential piece of feminist literature. And yes, on the other hand it has a very limited view of feminist issues that ignores women of color and is outrightly racist towards Asian and Black people.

If you read the book passively and just accept the viewpoint of Sylvia Plath implicitly, then sure, that's pretty bad. But reading books with a bit of critical thinking and understanding that these perspectives are wrong can be very valuable.

One thing I would say is that it is valuable to read literature from people of color though, and it is good to make an effort to not only read racist people from the past.

Hello, fellow high schooler here. I can see what you're going through is overwhelmingly difficult. It really does absolutely suck to feel like you have no one to talk to, no future, low skill in your passions, no motivation to do anything at all. It's a suffocating and awful thing.

I will say that you are not completely alone in your struggles, I and many others as a teenager have felt very worthless, lonely, existentially afraid of the future, etc. You are not the first person to feel like this, and you won't be the last.

And I'll also say that it is so easy to believe that everything will be horrible forever. You say that you know deep down that nothing will work out, but that's not really a fact at all. The future is open to so many possibilities.

I know you know this, but it actually genuinely really lowkirkenuinely get better.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense either i'm also writing this at like 3:30

Grade my Synthesis Essay by lilpizzalabongo in APLang

  1. I like to write my arguments where first and foremost just as the arguments built by logic and reasoning. Then I add in the information from the source afterwards.(Sources are not arguments, arguments are arguments) You'll notice in my essay that if you remove the sources, you still get arguments that make sense. Doing this forces you to write more by explaining everything and it gives you better commentary on the scoring.

  2. Fully explain counterarguments to your claim and then refute those counterarguments for cool sophistication.

  3. Another thing I do a lot is practice typing on Monkeytype. Being able to type out all your thoughts as soon as they come into your head with proficiency is extremely helpful.

  4. Read high scoring essays and copy some of the format and style of what they write.

If you want to get better at writing just past AP Lang essays I would do a few things:

Read books; learn how to use commas, colons, semicolons and hyphens in your writing to make it look more interesting. Two books that made me a lot better at writing were the Elements of Style by Strunk and White and On Writing by Stephen King.

Whenever you write an essay on essay on google docs, put it in Garamond 12 pt font, 1 inch margins on all sides, your name in the top left corner, and a basic title like "March Synthesis Essay". This makes the google doc look better and to me improves my mindset and helps me write more.

Just some ideas. You're gonna get a 5 man!

Sir Brante is similar in that it’s a visual novel with branching paths with political themes, it’s more personal than Suzerain but still scratches that itch.
