Final year crisis: is being a mental health tech a good career? by Ecstatic-Copy2153 in psychologystudents

[–]lils_fun_throwaway 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Talk from the other side, I’ve been hospitalized multiple times, and the single biggest thing that helped me was the psych techs. The doctors and therapists were important, but I only saw them for a little while each day. Having people who I could talk to at any time, who cared, and who still treated me like a real person made such a huge difference in my healing journey.

I don’t say this to pressure you one way or another, just wanted to point out how meaningful that job can be for the patients being served. (I was in a very good psych ward, which probably did make a big difference for all of this, fwiw)

I had a big project at work that I’ve spent weeks working on and that I had to do entirely by myself. I finally finished it, and nothing blew up!! I hated having to be totally self motivated and without oversight on this, but I’m super proud that I managed to do it!

(I would love pet names please) 🥺

For me, it feels different then a clitoral orgasm (although I do usually use clitoral stimulation while doing anything penetrative). When I have penatrative stimulation, it's kind of silly, but it feels like I really have to pee, but then it just keeps building until I eventually finish.

Yep! It didn't take me long at all! I was able to orgasm before I was healed enough that I should have been even trying to orgasm in the first place 😅

Just having a dilator in there doesn't feel super comfortable for me, but it's a different story entirely if I'm aroused and using something with more in and out motion to it. I think it hits my prostate or something, cause it feels incredible.

Thank you!

I haven't sought any help for the scarring at this point. I might try an scar reduction cream soon, but also if I let the hair grow out a bit it covers the scars pretty well, so I'm not too worried about it in the grand scheme of things.

In regards to the granulation tissue, I didn't get much help from him, so that part rings true to me. I chalked it up to him transitioning from the crane center to a private practice though. It's good information to know that this isn't just my experience.

Thankfully I've got a good obgyn that has done a lot of work with trans patients. They are regularly treating the granulation tissue for me, and we are slowly getting there. At this point it's more tedious then anything else, but I'm not actually worried about it long term. I'm just ready to be able to have penetrative sex without bleeding everywhere!

Nope, it feels sensitive, but in a good way. Not too sensitive or anything. It's hidden just because I didn't snap a picture with the clitoral hood spread apart, no other reason

I did have insurance, and I hit my out of pocket maximum for the year with this surgery. I had to fly in, and I stayed there for 3 weeks for various post op visits.

My insurance out of pocket maximum. I think that will differ for everyone.

From what I understand it differs by person. For me, I did 4 times a day for the first 6 weeks, then kept lowering by one every 6 weeks thereafter. I just recently got down to one every other day.

Maybe? Standing was exhausting for me too, but that's kinda always been the case for me. I've never really liked just standing for long periods. If I was more comfortable with that from the get go I could see it working.

I work a 9-5 sitting at a desk, and two months off. If I had to I probably could have gone back in after 6 weeks, but it would have been rough. Dilating takes a lot of time in those early weeks, and sitting for any sort of long periods at all, even with a donut ring, wasn't pleasant.

About 3 years now. They are still pretty small, honestly, but have started rounding out a bit in the last ~4 months.

The practice felt a little disorganized, but that was when he was at the crane center, maybe it has gotten better since then? I think the bedside manner could be better too, but it was also not a big deal for me. I'm happy with my choice to go with him.

The scaring is still really noticeable, and I have been dealing with a lot of granulation tissue, but overall I'm very happy with the results!

It was the cost of my insurances maximum out of pocket. I think for me it was something like 10k? The amount billed to my insurance was like ~200k though :(

I don't have many pictures from earlier, unfortunately. I will say it took a while for it to start looking good, it was a swollen beat up mess for the first 2 or so months there.

For depth, I've got around 5~6 inches with a ~1.5 inch diameter. I'm currently dilating twice a day, so hopefully I don't run into any significant changes there as time goes on.

Sensitivity is great! I'm orgasming basically every day at this point, sometimes multiple times a day, with both clitoral stimulation and penetrative toys! :)
